We live in a fantastic place. We can step out the door and we have a conserved area to ride on. There are several spots that are 10-15 min of trailer time. It’s great. Juniper and Hattie were perfection. The best part though, is kicking around with this guy for 30 years of riding. We laugh a lot. If you haven’t ridden today, do it with someone you can laugh with. They are the best rides. ❤️

Twisted Sweet Annie has continued to grow into such a lovely filly. Her mom says she is 15.3 now. She lives a little farther south and has done a little more shedding than my girls have. Her full sibling and 1/2 siblings will be born in June. Can’t wait to see this years crop of babies.

Jed, Yuma, Juniper, Kizzy, Maisy, Hattie and CeeCee all got trimmed, groomed, floofed and poofed today. All the hair removed from horses ended up in my bra and on my face. I didn’t make the rookie mistake of using chapstick but I did get down wind a couple of times. 3 big tummies and 3 months to go.
Happy spring!

One of Jed’s c**ts got his first experience of snow. He lives in a not so snowy part of the country. His mom took the pictures. He’s so handsome I had to share. :)

This time of year is the grind. It’s wet, cold, snowy, dark, windy, breezy, sleeting, raining, and sometimes foggy. Yet, we have zero to complain about. We have quiet girls and enough to get by. The positives of the season are rest, relaxation and some growing babies. Can’t wait to see what changes happen in the girls with the longer days and additional light. Happy almost solstice. 11 days to go! Bring on the light!

Waylon was 6 hours old when we had him sold. It was so exciting to have him and have such interest in him and his lineage. While in our care he has been vetted, scrubed on, trimmed, sacked, halter trained, played with and most of all loved. He saw the big trailer tonight and he walked right in. He is a kind and trusting c**t. He loaded up and left to go to his new home in Canada. We are so happy for his family and so happy to share the quiet nature of McCurdy and walking horse lines. Today was his last day as Waylon. Tomorrow he is Twister.

Tonight we got an update on Annie and her family. It’s a good reminder about why we do what we do. Perfect babies who go to just the right home. Annie is so loved by her new family. We are so happy when it all works and they get to meet their full potential.

Sometimes it’s good to be famous. “Waylon” was really “Waylon” for only about 6 hours. Then Ashley contacted me and he quickly became Twister. Here is a nice shout out in the Canadian Walking Horse Magazine. We have been so fortunate to meet some of the nicest folks and be in contact with some of the best breeding programs. Hattie and Jed both traveled some big miles to get to the PNW and now Twister is going international. Excited to see his future.

Today’s horse festivities included learning how to make a cinch. My first try…I learned a lot! Can wait to make another and probably another. Ha! It was a perfect activity for a smokey day.
