AMC Pilates Studios AMC Pilates Studios offers private, semi-private and group pilates instruction, practicing the STOTT PILATES Method.

Anne-Margaret Cereno, Owner/Operator

Anne-Margaret is a STOTT PILATES® certified instructor on mat and all apparatus including Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. She completed her training for Injuries and Special Populations through STOTT PILATES® and has expanded her education with a focus on post rehab, athletic conditioning and golf conditioning. She is also a ZEN•GA™ Qualified Instructor

which is a mind-body exercise performed on the V2Max Reformer that focuses on fascial fitness. Physically active throughout her life, she began her teaching journey with mind-body exercise in 2004 when she completed her Yoga Teacher Training Certificate through Fitness Resource Associates. Anne-Margaret was first introduced to Pilates in 2002 as a practicing student. She began her STOTT PILATES® training in 2009 and obtained certification on all apparatus in 2011. In 2009, Anne-Margaret left her corporate career to focus on teaching Pilates full-time and, in 2013 she opened her own studio located next to Legacy Place in Dedham, MA. She works with all populations including teens, seniors, men, women, athletes, pre and post rehab injuries and individuals with various physical limitations. Whether working one-on-one or with a group, she is passionate about educating her clients and helping them to understand the physical and mental benefits gained from their Pilates practice. The studio is a beautiful sunlit space with serene views overlooking a large tidal pond. We have two fully equipped studios featuring STOTT PILATES equipment including V2Max™ Reformers with the Cadillac Towers, Jumpboard and Cardio Tramps®, Arc Barrels, as well as small equipment. We teach the STOTT Pilates contemporary method and offer private, semi-private and group equipment classes. We can accommodate all ages and fitness levels. Studio One is equipped with six V2Max Reformers which combines the reformer and tower unit, JumpBoards™ and Cardio-Tramps™, to offer a multitude of classes including Essential, Intermediate and Advanced Reformer, tower apparatus classes, JumpBoard™, Athletic Conditioning on the Cardio-Tramp™, and ZEN•GA™. Studio Two features four Stability Chairs, a Cadillac and a Ladder Barrel. Both studios can accommodate privates, duets, trios and groups. Other amenities include a locker room and showers.

Abdominals, hip flexors, and upper and mid back posterior spinal muscles are challenged and strengthened to execute Leg Circles on the Ladder Barrel. Bonus...pecs, anterior delts and biceps get a nice stretch.

‘Feet in Straps’ on the Reformer is an integral part of a Pilates practice that focuses on strengthening the muscles that support the HIP and KNEE JOINTS, and the postural muscles that support the spine. In every practice we focus on joint articulation, spinal mobility, core strength, and muscular balance for improved posture.

Workout SMARTER!!!! One of the so many benefits of a Pilates practice on equipment ie. Reformer, Cadillac, and Stability Chair, is exercising with the resistance of the ‘springs.’ So, even though the spine and hips are in a stable position (not moving) in this exercise, the ‘spring load’ recruits all the muscles required to stabilize the spine and hips, including the abdominals, posterior muscles of the spine, glutes, hamstrings, quads, scalp stabilizers, and anterior muscles of the neck, too. Furthermore, the ‘springs ‘ provide a resistance to STRENGTHEN and s t r e t c h the muscles that are working to move the shoulder joints: the pecs, biceps, and anterior deltoids.

Leg Circles (with feet in straps on the Reformer) are a favorite way to strengthen the ‘ball and socket’ hip joints. Leg Circles focus on even, balanced circumduction ROM of the femur bone in the pelvis. Abdominals (anterior muscles of the spine) are engaged throughout to keep the pelvis stable!!

Nice spinal mobility demonstrated by this crew! It’s so important to maintain spinal mobility, core strength, and flexibility as we age. Pilates is a full body practice that helps improve postural balance, build core strength, improve flexibility and proper joint mobility, while developing mind body awareness.

Sometimes, it’s good to start at the bottom and work your way up! Here’s a reminder to get your Foot Work in........to strengthen not only the glutes, quads, hamstrings, adductors (inner thighs), and core, but the intrinsic muscles of the FEET, too! Good Posture starts with good foot/ankle alignment, strength, and balance, and goes upward to the knees, pelvis, rib cage, shoulders, neck and head.

Nice control of movement practicing Tree which focuses on strengthening the abdominals and articulating the spine in flexion and extension. Be kind to your spine.

Using the Extension Straps on the Reformer to strengthen the muscles that support the HIP and KNEE JOINTS in this side lying footwork series. The 1st set (external hip rotation), targets the deep lateral rotators including the pirifomis, and the 2nd set (high half toe position) targets the stabilizers of the knee. The ‘extension straps’ and ‘spring’ resistance on the Reformers assist in proper joint alignment and muscle activation WITHOUT compressing the joints.
