Stop deadlifting like a powerlifter if you’re trying to become a faster athlete.
🏃♂️💨 Speed is force applied quickly.
Not slowly.
Not eventually.
Quickly.
That’s why this time of year we start programming deficit trap bar deadlifts.
📈 Feet under hips.
🌎 Drive through the earth.
⚡ Create force.
Then create it faster.
🏋️ By standing on bumper plates, we increase the range of motion and force athletes into deeper positions.
We’re not chasing depth for the sake of depth.
We’re chasing strength in the positions that matter most.
🎯 Around 80° of knee flexion.
Close enough to the weak angles to create adaptation.
Far enough away to maintain quality.
🔥 Then comes the most important part:
Tempo.
Up one.
Down one.
Up one.
Down one.
Up one.
Down one.
If the load is so heavy that the athlete can’t move it with intent…
it’s too heavy.
⚡ Lower-body power isn’t built by surviving reps.
It’s built by producing force rapidly.
The strongest athlete isn’t always the fastest.
But the athlete who can produce force the fastest usually wins.
Who’s adding trap bar deadlifts this summer?
