Yesterday was an exciting—and incredibly intense—day at the Trap Nationals Qualifier. When you reach the pinnacle of this sport, the margins between moving on and going home are razor-thin. Out of 1,752 competitors, only the top 400 advanced to today's Championship.

Our three shooters went toe-to-toe with the best and put up some fantastic scores:

Brad Horning: Finished 406th with an awesome 95/100 (just barely missing the cut-off!)

Porter Laurie: Finished 626th with a strong 93/100

Keyton Simmons: Finished 994th with a great 90/100

To give you an idea of the field, 17 shooters shot a perfect 100. For our guys to place where they did out of nearly 1,800 shooters is a massive achievement.

Well done, gentlemen! Your coaches, families, and teammates are incredibly proud of you. We improve every time we step onto the line. Bring on the Fall Season!

Congratulations Keyton Simmons, Bradley Horning and Porter Laurie on qualifying for Trap Nationals this Saturday in Mason Michigan! The boys will be competing with shooters from all over the country.

The boys will each shoot a total of 100 rounds Saturday. They shoot 50 in the first session and then in the afternoon they will shoot their second 50. At the end of the day the top shooters will move onto Sunday for the final competition.

Keyton shoots at 9 AM, Porter at 9:30 and Bradley at 1 PM. Once the 1 PM flight finishes, the schedule immediately repeats.

When I posted about our Trap Team at the State Clay Target Competition last weekend, I made a HUGE oversight and failed to celebrate our S***t Team who competed on Friday the 19th. We had 6 guys compete who all did very well...highlighted by Jackson Howard finishing 2nd in the Novice division with a score of 78 out of 100!

S***t has not been our team's primary focus, but the kids are getting more into it and the scores are showing it.

JV
Brad Horning - 12th place - 77/100
Ronan Johnson - 50th pace - 60/100

Novice
Jackson Howard - 2nd place - 78/100
Brayden Konczal - 12th place - 64/100

As our Spring Season and States come to a close, I want to thank everyone who came to watch us, gave a donation, liked one of our posts or thought about us and told somebody about our program. We have an amazing thing going and I am very excited and proud to be a part of it. We are growing constantly in our skills and in number of students. Our students continue to learn teamwork, confidence in themselves, firearm safety & maintenance, accountability, and personal responsibility. 

We did not come home from States with any hardware, but we had some fantastic achievements. Our opening Session of Trap saw our varsity shooters score 3 perfect rounds of 25 and also a 50 straight!
Congratulations Ronan Johnson on your first 25! And congratulations Porter Laurie on another 25 and well done Brad Horning on 50 straight at states for the second consecutive year. 

We also had a couple novice shooters make tremendous gains in their scores while shooting on the biggest stage! Shout out to Connor and Marco! 

We also have three shooters that have a season average above 20 which earns them the right to go to the National Competition in Mason, MI on July 11. This will be an amazing experience and we are so excited and proud of Bradley, Porter and Keyton. 

I am excited and humbled. Every time I get to work with these kids and their parents. I know I speak for all the coaches when I say that we are proud of every one of our shooters and can’t wait for the Fall Season to start!

The team had a great day today at the Sandusky Invitational Trap event at Sanilac Sportsmans Club! Our primary team was our top five shooters of Porter Laurie, Bradley Horning, Keyton Simmons, Ronan Johnson and Hayden Anthes. They all shot very well and we came home with the first place trophy with the overall team score of 426 out of 500!

Porter was the overall #1 shooter by shooting 96 out of 100. Bradley was the overall #2 shooter hitting 93 out of 100.

Porter and Bradley also each shot a round of 25. Therefore, everybody participated in the tradition of shooting their hats. (slow videos attached)

And for the second time, coach Steve (Lefty) Wright won the Coaches Fun Shoot! 

We also had three other of our shooters participate with a combined team from Sandusky. Great job Carsen DeLong, Brayden Konczal and Ryder Anthes!

We had a great day at the Fun Shoot hosted by Caro Clay Target Club at the Tuscola County Conservation Club.

We had nine team members attend and these were not your normal competition events. Everyone shot well and learned some new games at the same time. We even came home with some hardware!

Ronan Johnson took first place in Junior Varsity 5 Stand and second place in JV Wobbly Trap. Keyton Simmons took first place in JV Wobbly Trap and third place in JV 5 Stand. Porter Laurie took first place in both Varsity Double S***t and Varsity 5 Stand. Great job Red Hawks!
