XC is back! Good start to the season today for our young men and women.

Varsity Girls finished 7th overall, with Sara Reed Thompson leading the girls with a 21st place overall out of 151 runners.

Varsity Boys finished 13th overall with Jack Youngblood scoring the top finish with a time of 18:55. Our JH boys ran later in the morning and gained some great experience today. It was the first ever XC meet for each of them.

Next weekend we travel to Oxford to run in the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Go Raiders!

Several team runners participated in the Bill J Dukes 7@7 race this morning for one final pre-season tune-up. Six out of top 10 individuals were from our team, and we had the overall female winner. Congrats to our athletes and the improvements they have made since last year!

Sophie-Paige Lamp - 🥇 Female overall, 9th combined overall
Owen Confer - 🥈 overall, 🥇 in 14&U age group
Jack Lamp - 🥉 overall, 🥇 in 15-19 age group
Ben Harney - 4th overall, 🥈 in 14&u age group
Jack Youngblood - 7th overall, 🥈 in 15-19 age group
Grant McRee - 8th overall, 4th in 14&U
Sara Reed Thompson - 11th overall, 🥇 in 14&U
Kitty Ashwander - 🥇 overall in 15-19

Lawson Peters, Zach Weiger, Nathan Matthews and Luke Harney also competed and finished with strong times.

Excited to toe the line next week at the Pepsi Challenge with our entire team.

The XC season unofficially started yesterday for the team with the Run Dirty 2-Mile XC race in Huntsville. A fun event for some of the athletes to start the season off with.

In the boys race, Jack Lamp was the first runner across the line in 31st with a time of 11:53 out of a field of 292 runners. Ben Harney and Owen Confer were close behind with a 12:13 and 12:16 respectively. Sully Nickels finished with a 15:51, Nathan Matthews with a 16:20 and Luke Harney with a 19:03.

The girls race saw Lillian Caldwell lead the team with a 16:20 with Sophie Steigerwalt close behind in 16:38. Kennedy West and Kitty Ashwander were neck and neck with a 17:00 and 17:02 respectively. A nice PR for Kitty before the season starts.

We will have the whole team at our first official meet on August 29th. Go Raiders!

Reminder that we are holding our team interest meeting this afternoon. We will reschedule IF after school activities are canceled this afternoon due to storms.
