Some training days are more interesting than others. We started with Eli the Aussie taking a stroll rather than hunting for his victim. His handler was about ready to put him back in the truck since he obviously wasn't searching when he ran into the scent cone of his victim. THEN he began his search and found the victim. This counts as a failure because a good search dog begins hunting as soon as he is told to do so. Then we were introduced to a lovely 4-month old Dutchie puppy related to Kathy's two dogs. A little blood was spilled with those sharp puppy teeth! As all this was happening, the sky got darker and darker. When the storm finally arrived, complete with hail, 3 people and Kathy's 10 month old pup were a quarter mile away from the vehicles. They ended up hiding under a tree to avoid the hail, and they were all soaked to the skin when they finally made it back to the vehicles. An interesting day!
