Happy 63rd birthday to former University of Miami tight end Chris Hembrough. A 1981 graduate of Griffin High School in Springfield, Illinois, Hembrough was a reserve tight end for the Miami Hurricanes from 1981 to 1984, playing behind starters Glenn Dennison and Willie Smith. The 6'2, 212 pound Hembrough was a member of the 1983 national championship team coached by Howard Schnellenberger.
Hembrough, who was a business major, also has three brothers who played college football--Doug Hembrough (Missouri), Jeff Hembrough (Illinois State) and Mike Hembrough (Western Illinois). Chris has since returned to his hometown of Springfield, IL where he most recently served as the President and CEO of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. He is currently in charge of business development of with Peerless Cleaning & Restoration Services in Springfield.
