Skorzewski School of Ballet focuses on true classical ballet training using the Russian Method. Every level follows syllabus guidelines that produce technically proficient dancers. All students ages 8 and up must conduct an interview and audition prior to enrollment. Leslie Skorzewski has been teaching for over 20 years and has focused her attention on studies in the Russian “Vaganova (va-GAH-no-v
a) Method”. Skorzewski has studied Russian method pedagogy with master teacher Mr. John White and is certified through his Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet Society. Additionally, she has had opportunity over several years to learn from teachers of the Vaganova Ballet Academy and Bolshoi ballet Schools. Leslie was accepted as a private student of Dr. Peggy Willis-Aarnio, during the summer of 2008 where she had received one-on-one instruction from this notable instructor of classical dance. Leslie’s students have had performing opportunites with the Willis Ballet sister company, Saint-Petersburg Classic Ballet Theatre of Marina Medvetskaya, on numerous occasions, and have danced as apprentices with the former National American Ballet Company (Minnesota). Students’ have been accepted into university dance programs across the US including those in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Mississippi. Many have also been accepted to study during the summer with professional schools; (some) have received scholarships and invitation to attend full year programs, these include: Kirov Academy(Washington, DC), Bossov Ballet Theatre (Maine), Ballet Intensive from Moscow (Illinois), Joffrey (Chicago and New York), ABT (American Ballet Theatre School), BalletMet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Harid Conservatory, Gelsey Kirkland Academy, and Milwaukee Ballet School. Skorzewski’s dedication to proper classical ballet training along with instilling passion for the art form is of utmost importance to her.
