πŸ‘‹ Parents- How's back to school going for your family?

The initial excitement can sometimes wear off as the reality of a new routine sets in. It's totally normal for kids to feel tired, a little overwhelmed, or even a bit moody as they adjust to new schedules, classmates, and teachers.

Here are a few gentle reminders for navigating the rest of this first week:

**Patience is Key:** The learning curve is steep right now. They're not just learning subjects, they're learning a whole new rhythm. A little extra patience goes a long way.

**Ask Beyond "How was your day?":** Try specific questions like, "What's one thing that made you smile today?" or "Tell me one thing you learned that surprised you."

**Prioritize Rest:** Their brains are working overtime! Make sure they're getting enough sleep. A calm wind-down routine in the evening can be a lifesaver.

**Celebrate Small Wins:** High-five them for making it through a tough day, for remembering their new locker combination, or for sitting at a new lunch table.

**Keep It Simple:** Give them time to decompress and recharge at home. Getting outside, taking part in an activity/sport, or play a game with them. All are great ways for them to have a mental reset.

As always, give them a big hug and let them know they've got this!

Teaching Kids Self-Love Sprouts Kindness 🌱❀️

Ever notice how kids who are hard on themselves can also be tough on others? It’s like trying to pour water from an empty cup. True kindness starts right inside us.

Teaching our children to be **kind to themselves** – especially when they make mistakes or face challenges – is the best way to help them be kind to others. When they understand that it's okay to not be perfect, that learning involves stumbles, they're much more likely to understand and be nice to their friends and classmates too.

Think of self-compassion as their **inner best friend**. This friend offers comfort, encouragement, and understanding, just like a good friend would. When kids have this special friend inside, they're less likely to be upset with others because of their own feelings. They learn that everyone, including themselves, deserves kindness.

So, how can we grow this superpower?

✨ **Show them:** Let them see you being kind to yourself, even when you make a mistake.
πŸ—£οΈ **Talk nicely to yourself:** Help them use kind, encouraging words in their own heads.
πŸ«‚ **It's okay to feel:** Let them know it's fine to feel sad, mad, or disappointed sometimes.
πŸ’– **Effort over perfect:** Celebrate when they try hard, not just when they win or get things right.

When children learn to be gentle with their own slip-ups, their hearts naturally open wider to understand others who are having a tough time. Being kind to yourself isn't selfish; it's the start of being a really kind and understanding person in the whole wide world!
