The De Pere Deacons are gearing up for the 2026–2027 season, and we’re looking for players ready to hit the ice, compete, and be part of the Deacons tradition!

After the first two skates, we’ll continue hitting the ice every Wednesday at 9:00 PM throughout October as tryouts continue.

Today, we remember and honor Jacqueline “Jackie” Nuthals, one of the De Pere Deacons’ most devoted supporters.

For nearly 50 years, Jackie could be found at the rink, proudly cheering on her three sons—Keith, Greg, and Steve. She supported them throughout their Green Bay Southwest hockey careers, continued cheering them on as Deacons, and remained one of our most loyal supporters for decades to follow.

Her unwavering love for her family and the game made her a familiar and cherished part of our hockey community. Her love for our team extended far beyond the stands as well. For the past 13 years, she supported her son Greg, the Deacons head coach, generously spending the offseasons sewing and repairing our jerseys and socks, helping keep our team ready for every season.

On behalf of the entire De Pere Deacons organization, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Nuthals family.

Thank you, Jackie, for your years of unwavering support, your kindness, and for showing us what it truly means to be a hockey mom and a lifelong fan.

You will always have a place in the Deacons family. 💛🏒

The De Pere Deacons are saddened to learn of the passing of former winger Rudy Burkhalter on 5/19/2026.

Born in Marinette, Wisconsin, on November 17, 1977, Rudy graduated from Marinette High School in 1996. Following graduation, he joined the Deacons and played two seasons with the organization from 1997 to 1999.

Rudy was known as a fierce competitor who never backed down from the physical side of the game. Strong along the boards and in front of the net, he played with grit, determination, and toughness every time he stepped onto the ice. He was also known for standing up for his teammates and was a formidable fighter when called upon.

Beyond his contributions on the ice, Rudy was a devoted teammate and a loving father to his two children, Emma and Tyson. Off the ice, he lit up the locker room with his infectious smile and great sense of humor, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Deacons extend their deepest condolences to Rudy’s family, friends, and former teammates. We are grateful for his contributions to our organization and honored to have had him wear the Deacons jersey.

Rest in peace, Rudy.
