👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch our finals routine… here’s your chance….but first let’s give a quick run down of the events leading to this 2:15 routine.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Arrived into Daytona on Tuesday, April 7th. Rainy, quite chilly and very windy. We knew that the schedule for competition had been rearranged to adjust for the outdoor competition that couldn’t happen due to the conditions, which meant our division would shift an entire day.
Competition for All Girl Intermediate Division 1 would be Friday and Saturday. Gave us an opportunity to practice, when the weather would let up. We did get two quick 20 minute practices indoors, where you typically only get one.
Finally get to compete Friday at 1:07pm.
Couple of building falls and an athlete fall (touch in tumbling). Not a great performance, but overall a lot to be excited about moving forward. Easy fixes. SIUE was sitting in 18th out of 31 on day one.
Go back to our hotel to start making necessary changes, get away from the crowds and focus.
Unthinkable happens, - fluke accident coming out of pyramid and our athlete is being picked up by her parents to get to an ER and get x-rays. Now we aren’t just applying fixes, we are re-working an alternate into her spot and changing several positions throughout the entire routine.
This performance is less than 13 hours of hard, emotional, unwavering dedication to their teammates and this team. They adjusted and improved. Go time is 11:07am. These ladies got their paws out and clawed up to 12th out of 31.
🏆The coaches were shook. This is one of the largest divisions . We took 12th and hit 0!!! 🏆
🐾Congrats Cougars!! You really were the fiercest of them all!🐾
