International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers โ Local Union No. 756 (2026) Alumni Spotlight is Tortugas alum Sal Stewart ๐ข
Stewart has gone from Daytona to becoming an MLB All-Star and one of the top rookies in baseball in just three years.
The Reds selected Stewart with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, and after just eight games in the Arizona Complex League, he opened his first full professional season with the Tortugas in 2023.
At just 19 years old, Stewart appeared in 88 games for Daytona and hit .269 with 85 hits, 19 doubles, 10 home runs, 60 RBI, 66 walks, and a .395 on-base percentage. His performance earned him Florida State League Postseason All-Star and Baseball America Low Class A All-Star honors, and he was also named a Reds Organization All-Star following the season.
Stewart continued his climb through the system with High-A Dayton in 2024 before breaking out between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville in 2025. He hit .309 with 20 home runs, 80 RBI, and a .907 OPS that season, earned Southern League MVP honors, and represented the Reds in the All-Star Futures Game.
On September 1, 2025, Stewart completed his climb through the organization and made his Major League debut with Cincinnati, collecting his first big league hit that same night. He finished his first taste of the Majors with five home runs in just 18 games.
In 2026, Stewart has emerged as one of the biggest young stars in baseball. The 22-year-old was selected to his first MLB All-Star Game and, through August 31, is hitting .266 with 31 home runs, 105 RBI, 79 runs, and an .826 OPS.
His 105 RBI are the most by a rookie in Reds history, and Stewart became the first Reds rookie ever to record at least 30 home runs and 100 RBI in a season. He was also the first player in Major League Baseball to reach 100 RBI this year and has put himself firmly in the National League Rookie of the Year conversation.
From an FSL All-Star in Daytona to an MLB All-Star in Cincinnati, Stewartโs rise through the Reds organization has been a fast one.
