The countdown is on! Gem City Roller Derby is officially entering its third decade of dominance in the Miami Valley, and we’re kicking off our 20th Anniversary Season with a massive celebration at Blind Bob’s! 🥳🎊🍾
This is more than just a kickoff—it’s a reunion. We are calling on every GCRD Alum who has ever donned the purple and black to join us. Come share your favorite track stories and help us toast to the next 20 years! 🍻🥂

Mark your calendars! Gem City Roller Derby is officially launching its 20th Anniversary season, and we’re taking over the Oregon District for a celebration you won’t want to miss.
Whether you’re a long-time fan, a neighbor curious about the sport, or a GCRD Alum looking to reconnect with the league you helped build, this is the place to be. We’re celebrating two decades of grit, community, and derby in Dayton!

Our Story

Gem City Roller Derby (GCRD) is a non-profit competitive sports organization providing positive and inspirational role models for fans of all ages. We show that skaters of all shapes, sizes, skill, age and backgrounds can be strong, athletic and work as a team to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Our program provides structured training, instruction, competition, and preparing our members to represent Dayton on an international level. Our members regularly work together with community outreach programs through events, activities, and charity sponsorship.

Established in 2006, Gem City Roller Derby has worked toward important milestones to include; achieving full Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) status in 2014, making our league eligible to compete and rank on an international level and growing to support multiple teams. We boast skaters of all skill levels (rookie to veteran), ages 18-60, and skaters from all walks of life to include recent high school graduates, college professors, military/veterans, statisticians, nurses, business owners, scientists, stay-at-home moms, mechanics, and more. Together we are united as a team and family both on and off the track.

As an organization, we strive for continued growth by welcoming new skaters to join our ranks during open recruitment opportunities. Year-round, we welcome non-skaters who wish to support GCRD in officiating and volunteer roles. We want to increase awareness of our sport in the Dayton area and bring awareness to the positive impact it has on our inclusive community. With our league’s success, we wish to promote our values and give back to our local community through service and support.
