Tropical Storm Arthur Expected to Form Wednesday

Potential Tropical Cyclone One has formed in the Gulf and is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Arthur on Wednesday. The system is expected to track near the Texas coast before making landfall Wednesday night near the Texas Louisiana border.

Impacts are expected to be driven more by heavy rainfall than wind. Deep tropical moisture will support widespread heavy rain with the potential for significant flooding, especially along the upper Texas and Louisiana coasts. Some locations could see 6 to 10 inches of rainfall in a short period of time, leading to flash flooding and flooded roadways.

Residents along the Gulf Coast should closely monitor forecasts and be prepared for changing conditions over the next 24 to 48 hours.
