It's that time of year again at Fort Churchill...insect season. Make sure you come well prepared to deal with pesky and persistent insects. We strongly recommend mesh head nets in addition to insect repellent. Head nets may seem excessive, but we cannot emphasize enough how essential they are when dealing with the springtime gnats.

We had a great time during last night’s Scorpion Hunt! Some of our visitors even came prepared with glow in the dark shirts that they’d painted themselves!

We have a Red Flag Warning today starting at 2 pm.

Good early morning for those hardy souls awake this early Father's Day morning. WFO Reno has upgraded to a Red Flag Warning for Zones 420, 423, and 429 due to widespread gusty winds to 30-40 mph in some areas, and low humidity dropping to 8-15% this afternoon and early morning.

Attention Park Visitors: We take pride in maintaining the natural beauty of our state parks and historical resources. Recently, we've received an increase in reports of vandalism within our parks. We would like to remind everyone: if you see something, say something.

At Nevada State Parks, we investigate all reports thoroughly and take appropriate action, including pressing charges when necessary. Your cooperation is vital in preserving our parks for future generations to enjoy.

If you witness vandalism, whether it's graffiti, destruction of property, or any other unlawful activity, do not confront the offenders. Instead, report the offence to park staff. Take note of dates, times, and identifiers like license plates. Refrain from turning to social media; report directly to us for swift action.

If you would like to report the incident after your visit, send any tips or photographic evidence to [email protected], including the location, time, and date of the incident.

Together, we can protect our parks and ensure they remain pristine for all to experience. Thank you for your support and commitment to preserving our natural treasures.

An Eagle Scout and his troop recently built and installed three benches in the park. One is located near the restroom and Junior Ranger Garden and there are two along the trail.
