What is TBT? and Why Us?
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is an open-application, single-elimination tournament played each summer offering $2 million in winner-take-all prize money and is broadcast by ESPN. The tournament features current professionals from all over the world, many of whom are playing on a team with other alumni from the college they played at.
That is where we come in. For the last few years, Dayton alumni have participated in TBT but, that all changes this year. “The Red Scare” as we are so appropriately named will feature some of your favorite Flyers of all time (More on the roster as we go on). What is a better way to show off how much our great community loves each other and basketball than by coming together as only Flyers can this summer!
For the players, the TBT gives them a chance to gain valuable exposure, for some finally answer the big what if questions? (Could you imagine how dominate Brian Roberts and Kendall Pollard would have been together!?), and of course gives them a chance to play for $2 million dollars. For Dayton players though, there’s an even bigger reason as to why we want to do this. The feeling of being a Dayton Flyer, playing in front of 13,000 every night and knowing that thousands more were locked in all over the world is something that no matter what we accomplish professionally; we can not duplicate. This is the best we can get and we know the Dayton Community will get behind us!
