Dr. Esra Shermadou I Obesity Medicine isn’t just a physician, she’s someone redefining what real care looks like.

A board-certified Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine physician, Dr. Esra is the founder of Sakinah Health right here in Dayton, where her entire mission is built around one simple idea: people deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported in their health journey.

But what makes her stand out isn’t just credentials,it’s how she shows up.

She takes the same approach to health that we value in training: meet people where they are, build a strong foundation, and create something sustainable. No quick fixes. No one-size-fits-all plans. Just real, personalized care that fits into real life.

Dr. Esra has a strong focus on women’s health, metabolic health, and weight management, but more importantly, she helps people understand their bodies.

She simplifies what feels overwhelming and gives people the tools to take ownership of their health with confidence.

And that’s where the crossover happens.

Because whether it’s in the gym or in the clinic, the goal is the same—build stronger humans.

She believes in the power of movement, nutrition, and lifestyle as the foundation for long-term health. Not extremes, not burnout..just consistent, intentional habits that actually stick.

What really sets her apart is how deeply she listens. In a world where healthcare often feels rushed and transactional, she’s created something different,an environment where people can ask questions, feel understood, and be part of the process.

Dr. Esra Shermadou is building more than a clinic.
She’s building trust, confidence, and a better way forward for people who are ready to take control of their health.

Kennedy T, ACE CPT is the kind of person you don’t fully appreciate until you realize how much better the room feels when she’s in it.

Fresh into “real life” after graduation, Kennedy’s stepping into a new phase, balancing work, responsibility, and everything that comes with building her own path. And even as she’s moved into working with us remotely, her presence hasn’t gone anywhere.

Because people like Kennedy leave an impact.

She’s the teammate you want next to you when training gets hard. Reliable, engaged, and always ready to work…but never at the expense of making it enjoyable. She has this ability to keep things light without losing focus, which is a rare balance and a big reason she’s such a great training partner.

And then there’s her humor.

Kennedy doesn’t take herself too seriously, and that’s exactly what makes her so fun to be around. Whether it’s a well-timed comment, laughing through a tough session, or keeping the energy up when others are dragging, she brings something to the environment that you can’t really coach,it’s just who she is.

Underneath that easygoing personality is someone who shows up and does the work. She’s consistent, coachable, and someone you can count on to give effort when it matters.

She’s still very much part of the fabric here!

Evelyn Perez is the kind of athlete who reminds you what starting the journey is all about.

From day one, her focus hasn’t been on chasing numbers,it’s been on learning how to move well. Every session is an opportunity for her to get a little better, a little more comfortable, and a little more confident. You can see it in the way she approaches each lift: thoughtful, coachable, and willing to slow things down to truly understand the movement.

And that growth is showing. What once felt unfamiliar is now becoming second nature. Positions are improving, confidence is building, and she’s starting to trust herself in a way that only comes from putting in consistent, intentional work.

But what really makes Evelyn stand out isn’t just her progress,it’s her presence.

She brings a genuine sweetness to the gym that people are naturally drawn to. She’s the one cheering others on, celebrating the small wins, and creating an environment where people feel comfortable being beginners.

Her sense of humor shows up at just the right moments, making tough sessions feel a little more fun and a lot more human.

Evelyn is proof that you don’t need to be the loudest or the strongest in the room to make an impact.

Sometimes it’s about showing up, staying open to learning, and bringing good energy to the people around you.

She’s building strength, yes—but she’s also building confidence, connection, and a foundation that’s going to carry her a long way.

Nicky | Faith • Wild Grace • Grit is what it looks like when someone commits to getting better across the board.

Balancing both jiu-jitsu and strength & conditioning isn’t easy—but Nicole doesn’t shy away from that challenge. She leans into it. Whether she’s on the mats or in the gym, she shows up ready to work, ready to learn, and ready to push herself a little further than last time.

In jiu-jitsu, she’s building real skill—learning how to stay composed under pressure, think through positions, and keep showing up even when things don’t go her way. She understands that progress there isn’t linear, and instead of getting frustrated, she stays patient and keeps putting the reps in.
That mindset carries directly into her S&C work.
She’s focused on getting stronger, moving better, and building a foundation that supports everything she does on the mats. You can see the connection happening—more control, more confidence, and more intent behind her training.

She’s also a great presence to have around. Focused when it’s time to work, but still easygoing and supportive of the people around her. The kind of person who makes the room better just by being in it.

Amy Brahic is stepping into a new chapter, and she’s doing it with grit.

Fresh off graduation, Amy is at that point in life where everything is wide open. New opportunities, new challenges, and the chance to build something entirely her own. And instead of backing down from that uncertainty, she’s leaning into it.

Jiu-jitsu has become a big part of that journey.

What started as something new and uncomfortable has quickly turned into a proving ground. Anyone who’s stepped on the mats knows, there’s nowhere to hide. You’re forced to learn, adapt, and grow in real time. And Amy has embraced that process fully.

She’s not afraid to be a beginner.

She asks questions. She puts herself in tough positions. She shows up ready to learn. That mindset is what separates people who dabble from people who actually grow—and Amy is growing.

There’s a toughness developing there too.

At the same time, she brings a great energy to the room. Easy to talk to, supportive of others, and willing to laugh at the chaos that comes with learning something hard. That balance of effort and lightness is what makes her someone people want to train with.
Graduation is just the starting line.

Amy Brahic is building confidence, resilience, and skill all at once, and if the way she’s approaching jiu-jitsu is any indication, she’s going to take that same mindset into whatever comes next.

A DG newbie Amy

Amy comes from a background in Olympic weightlifting, where she’s spent years refining technique, building explosive strength, and developing a deep respect for the barbell. That experience shows up immediately—efficient movement, discipline in training, and an understanding of what it means to chase progress over time.

Now, she’s stepping into a new arena.

This June, Amy will take the platform for her first powerlifting meet, trading in the quick precision of the sn**ch and clean & jerk for the grind of the squat, bench, and deadlift. It’s a different test—but one that fits her mindset perfectly.

Transitions like this aren’t easy. Different demands, different pacing, different kind of pressure. But Amy has already proven she’s willing to learn, adapt, and put in the work….plus she is an amazing training partner!

June will be her first meet—but it won’t be the last.
Welcome to the team, Amy.

Merete Hvalshagen has been part of this place longer than just about anyone—and that kind of time means something.

We’ve watched life happen in real time together. Not just sets and reps, but seasons. From dialing in body recomposition and building strong, resilient knees, to navigating the bigger transitions like her boys kids heading off to college, stepping into retirement, and redefining what this phase of life looks like.

Through it all, Merete has shown up. Steady. Consistent.

She’s built more than strength here. She’s built a lifestyle that supports her, keeps her moving well, and lets her keep doing the things she loves.
Whether that’s time in the gym, getting creative with her many hobbies, ice skating, belly dancing or hanging out with her

We’ve been lucky to be part of the ride.
