Hara Arena Our history... The Hara Complex is as unique as its history. Originally, our location was a thriving, family-owned fruit orchard. The team folded in early 2012.

In 1956, Wampler Ballarena was built as the cornerstone of what is now a 6-building exhibition center. Today it is a thriving, family-owned entertainment, conference & exhibition facility. Very few such complexes are privately owned, even fewer are family owned. Hara has survived & prospered by combining the professionalism of one of the areas largest exhibition centers with the care & personal co

ncern of a family business. Hara was named by founding brothers HArold & RAlph Wampler. The arena, built in 1964, ushered in entertainment to the Dayton area never seen before. The Rolling Stones, Elton John, The Who, Neil Diamond, The Grateful Dead, they’ve all played at our historic facility. Hara has also been the catalyst to successful hockey in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Gems & later, the Dayton Bombers, all enjoyed success while on the Hara ice. The Gems returned to Hara for the 2009-2012 seasons. However, out of the ashes of the Dayton Gems, the Dayton Demonz Professional Ice Hockey team was born. Hara remains home to the Dayton Demonz Professional ice hockey team, Dayton Sharks professional indoor football team, World's Toughest Rodeo®, Silver Sticks Hockey® Tournament, The Dayton Hamvention®, Monster Truck Winter Nationals®, the Midwest Ceramics Show®, The Miami Valley Home Improvement Show, The National Holiday Gift Show and a host of others. Our banquet facilities are also a large part of the Hara history and future. Hara operates two full-sized ice sheets and hosts several amateur hockey teams and events. In May and October of 2004, Hara was twice bestowed the honor of a Presidential visit from President George W. Bush. BOX OFFICE HOURS:

We have received so many requests for Hara memorabilia over the last couple of months! Hope the upcoming online auction through EVERYTHING BUT THE HOUSE gets as much of it as possible into the hands of those of you who would most love to have it. The auction begins Thanksgiving Day and runs through Wednesday, Nov. 30 at www.ebth.com. All items start at $1. An auction preview will be held on Sunday, Nov. 27 from 12-3 pm in Hara's East Hall.

HARA ODDS & ENDS SALE
There's been a lot of interest in Hara items since the closing announcement. There will be a full on-line auction of Hara Memorabilia through EVERYTHING BUT THE HOUSE in November (Dates TBA). But a "Hara Odds and Ends Sale" will be held tomorrow Friday, Oct 14 from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 am to 12 noon. Stop by Hara's East Hall and shop an odd and eclectic assortment that includes glassware, seasonal decorations, candles, vases, tables, chairs, lockers, food service displays, office supplies, pretzel warmers, hot chocolate machines, sporting, refrigeration and catering equipment and much more.

We've been surprised by the number of you who have requested an opportunity to visit Hara one last time - to take a picture, sit in "your" seat or share a memory. The main arena will be open this Saturday, August 27 from 10 am to 3 pm. Thanks for the unforgettable moments, memories and magic you've generated here over the years. They'll be around long after the doors have closed.

To all those who have taken time to post or share their Hara memories with us, thank you. Your reaction to Hara's closing has been both humbling and heartbreaking. We knew what Hara meant to us, we just didn't realize what it meant to so many of you. It's been an incredible 60-year run. Thanks for the memories, Miami Valley. They will be Hara's lasting legacy.
