So today begins another new year - and I know there are so many people making "New Years Resolutions" - I'll quit smoking, I'll lose so many pounds, I'll exercise everyday, I'll make more money, I'll get that thing I didn't get last year etc..... many made earnestly but by April few still going on - how about we all agree to make some easier resolutions this year - I resolve to do the following:
1. I will smile at everyone I encounter in my day. Especially my family, my neighbors and those doing me a service.
2. I will get the necessary sleep to keep my brain healthy and enough exercise to keep my heart pumping.
3. I will turn off my cell phone when I am speaking with my spouse, my children, my friends - I will be present.
4. I will help those who I know need my help when I can without expectation or request.
5. I will learn something new - no matter what it is to continue my growth.
6. I will care for my mental health as much as I care for my physical health.
7. I will accept that sometimes I am ahead and some times I am behind but what a blessing is everyday.
8. I will be grateful for the things I have in my life and not remorseful for those things I do not possess.
9. I will spend time in nature refueling my spiritual growth.
10. I will live this day, not yesterday, not tomorrow - this day.
I think we can all achieve these simple resolutions and if we can achieve these simple ones think how much more we can do to improve ourselves - easily. I'm sure there are many others I have missed - but again these are the things I resolve to do. If you agree, please share and add your own "simple" resolutions to the list.
