The Weston Athletic League training just started this past week. You still have time to register for the season. We are excited to once again be part of great program. When Manzy retired from the Miami Marlins, he thought he was done with long days and bigger challenges.

Turns out… toddlers were waiting. 😅

He started teaching kids at Memorial Hospital West, but quickly realized something was missing. He loved the kids, but there was no real space to build, to grow, to dream. What he wanted was simple: a baseball field.

So he did what he’s always done — kept going.
Miramar West. Plantation. Davie.
Programs here, lessons there… and one unforgettable day when the lights were literally turned off mid-lesson. (Yes. In the middle.)

That moment led to a conversation.
That conversation led to Davie Sports.

Parents and local business owners spoke up for Manzy. And Davie Sports gave him an opportunity he never expected:

👉 “Can you run a baseball program for 3–4 year olds?”

Manzy’s response?
He sat in the car.
Didn’t move.
“I don’t know what to do with them.”

As his wife, I gently reminded him:
“You promised. Like it or not… you’re doing it.” 😌

That first year?
Let’s just say it built character.

He started with 12 kids.
Finished with 4.
The rest decided baseball was… optional.

But Manzy didn’t quit.

Year after year, he learned. He grew. And without his knowledge, parents started writing letters to the Town — sharing how special this former MLB player was with their little ones.

Those letters opened doors we never saw coming:
✨ A training area at Bamford Park
✨ A beautiful relationship with the Town of Davie

Manzy treats every child the same — regardless of skill, background, or how many times they run the bases backwards. And people noticed.

Today, that once-chaotic toddler program is now one of the biggest programs Davie Sports offers.

And somehow…
It’s now Manzy’s favorite.

We are beyond grateful — for the trust, the opportunity, and the community that believed in him before he believed in himself.

We love our Town of Davie.
And we can’t wait to be back full-time very soon. ⚾️💙

Early this morning we got a text.
No “good morning.”
No explanation.
Just a picture of the banner below.

And suddenly… everything made sense.

Here’s the backstory.

For two years, my husband Manzy has been saying—very confidently—
“One day, the City is going to come and ask me to train all their players. And I’m going to make a difference in their lives with an amazing team of coaches.”

Now let me be honest.
Without ever telling him… I thought, this man is crazy.
But I did what good spouses do—I listened, nodded, and smiled supportively while thinking, Sure, babe. Of course they will. 😅

Fast forward to the two-year mark.

One day, a man walks into our training area at Bamford Park in Davie and asks for Manzy. He sits down quietly and watches him train the players—no interruptions, just observing.

Then he asks, “Do you train Shaan Kareem?”
We said yes.

He then introduces himself and says he’s the President of the league in Weston—and also Shaan’s coach. He tells us he saw firsthand how Manzy transformed this kid over one summer. Not just skills—but confidence. A completely different player.

Then he says the words that made time stop:

“I want you to train my entire league.”

Y’all… my jaw DROPPED.
I sat on that bench in total disbelief.

In that moment, I watched a dream come true in real time.

Manzy turns to me and says,
“You see? I’ve been waiting for him for two years.”

Lesson learned: dreams do come true.
And when people doubt you—or when you quietly doubt yourself—use that as fuel to go bigger, better, and louder.

This time, we’re dreaming together.

We are beyond grateful for the years invested in this league and for the opportunity to train and impact the lives of thousands of players and families.

To the Weston Athletic League Board of Directors—thank you for trusting us.
We’re just getting started, and we’re committed to doing bigger and better things to truly make a difference.

We are super excited to announce that Weston Athletic League opened their baseball registration.

#15 year of Preseason training starts January 5th, 2026 - 3 weeks- 6 practices per age group- of intense training with the Head of Player Development- Manzy. This is the only league that provides preseason professional training at no cost to the players.

Add the Academy that starts February 9th, 2026 - Friday nights to train with Manzy and his staff.
