1/2 day, full day and weekends available. Our Mission: To instill in others the confidence of a true master by sha

ring lost martial art skills and principles not handed down through their lineage, both in the USA and abroad. Ever since the Korean War, secret martial art principles have been kept from Occidentals. Considered “National Treasures” of China, Japan, Korea and Okinawa, masters of olden times dared not pass these secret principles to students of the west. Only the successor of the school or style was privileged to know the unseen power that supercharged the techniques of the style. If you were not taught about these SUPER PRINCIPLES, it’s not your teachers fault. Most of these secrets were totally unknown until the mid 1980s when one master opened up to the west; a few others slowly began to follow. All secrets apply to hard and soft styles equally. Most of the secret principles cannot be learned by mimicking the master; they are too esoteric to be noticed. Therefore the ancient masters could use them at will and never have them be detected or stolen. The old stories of the master’s “secret book” were true. Now you can have a peek inside! PowerPlus Martial Art Secrets: 60 years of Research, Study and Teaching!

Joe Martin began his martial arts and healing work in the early ‘60s and has studied many martial arts,
bodywork techniques and natural healing methods over 50 years. Joe Martin began teaching Martial
arts in 1965 as an assistant instructor with Sensei Bob Alexander and has taught classes and seminars
continually to date. He opened the Silver Dragon Kung fu Academy on E. 7th Street in Charlotte. North
Carolina in 1973 with Sifu Buddy Springs. The famous Silver Dragon Kungfu Academy in Charlotte, NC
was a magnet for those seeking "Kungfu" as a path to martial arts for a higher purpose. Grandmaster Joe Martin has been a powerful influence to countless individuals who were searching for
martial arts as not only a means of self defense, but also as a way of life. He and his teacher, Sensei Bob
Alexander, opened the door to teaching self defense in College when they taught Students at Central
Piedmont Community College. These classes started in 1965 and lasted continually for more than 40
years. Many of the extraordinary secrets were handed down to one of Grandmaster Martin’s teacher, Mantak
Chia by a Taoist monk (Master Yi Eng). And it was Master Cheng Yao-Lun who taught Grand Master Chia
the Shaolin Method of Internal Power that was regarded as a national treasure of China. Grand master Martin has taught thousands of students, mostly in the shadows and in quite places in the
Carolinas. He spent 9 years teaching up to 12 weeks per year in Europe. GM Martin still teaches clinics,
seminars and private students. Two major trips to China were instrumental in his understanding and
As the developer of "PowerPlus Martial Art Secrets", Grandmaster has opened the doors to bringing
back many of the secrets of the ancient masters that were not taught to non-Asians. His understand and
ability to transfer these ancient secrets to martial artists of all levels is unparallel in the martial arts
community. Many of the secrets not passed down by the ancient masters were thought to take years to
master. Grandmaster Joe Martin is able to demonstrate and teach many of these secrets where every
student is able to master most in just minutes. The power demonstrated by his "zero-inch punch" is
renowned and unprecedented. He created a modern Tai Chi method Tai Chi for the Living Room; designed to provide the student with
all the health-giving benefits people expect to receive when studying other forms of Tai Chi, but in 1/10
the time or less. Tai chi for the Living Room requires only one squire meter of space and teaches the
Chinese healing principles of the Five Elements, Ba Gua, Yin and Yang, plus the emotional balancing
properties of the 10 major organs. Students from the age of seven to eighty-two have enjoyed the
healing benefits of Tai Chi for the Living Room. Grandmaster Joe Martin, as a Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi teacher, has been sought after for five
decades for his skills and knowledge in the "soft style" martial arts. As a demonstration of his ability to
use non invasive tactics, he fought a Six-foot black bear at Charlotte's Park Center. He is married to Dr. Sandrine Martin; has 3 daughters, 9 grand children and 2 great-grand children
(2019). "I love learning new and exciting methods of using the body and mind as a tool for healing and/or
controlling aggression. Principles are more important to me than techniques - learn a technique, one has
a technique; learn a principle and one can create countless techniques." Notable Achievements:

Assuming that the correct usage of each are performed correctly, they both have their advantages. Keep in mind that here I am only talking about the proper structural use of the fist and not the use of li, jin, chi or shen.

Horizontal requirements - 1. The striking surface of the two predominant knuckles protrude past the fingers. 2. The carpal bones are parallel to the forearm. 3. The external rotators of the humerus have been properly strengthened and the internal rotators of the humerus have NOT been overdeveloped – Pectoralis major clavicular and Pectoralis major sternal. These pec muscles have been called the enemy of punches. Over developed pec muscles prevent the elbow from being pointing downward during a horizontal punch. If the elbow is pointed laterally (outward), it prevents # 4 from happening. 4. The ulnar and radial bones of the forearm “cross” forming an “x”, which provides additional support via the bones, ligaments and fascia. 5. The arm should be straight upon impact. (I know some will disagree with this thinking that someone could break your arm. If your opponent is masterful enough to snap your arm at this speed, you have already lost.)

Advantage: Devastating, bone breaking power that, when executed properly, does NOT knock the person backward.

Disadvantage: Much less effective when punching above one’s own chest (cannot strike the knuckles). Somewhat slower than a vertical midline punch. Requires learning from an early age to keep the elbow pointed to the ground.

Vertical requirements – 1. Striking surface can be any of the knuckles but lateral flexion is required if connection is with the knuckles at the fourth and fifth metacarpals. 2. The elbow is pointing downward during a vertical punch. 3. The arm should be straight upon impact.

Advantage: 1. Easier to learn. 2. Effective high or low. 3. Faster repetitive strikes from the centerline. 4. Very effective at damaging internal organs. 4. More versatile due to the ability to strike with any of the four knuckles.

Disadvantage: Somewhat less “bone breaking” power due to the ulnar and radial being parallel.
