The golf days of summer are here!

Golf asks something different of people.

It's not about overpowering an opponent. It's about mastering yourself.

As I watch the course, I watch more than golf.

I watch how people respond to adversity.

Some throw clubs.

Some yell obscenities.

Some let one bad shot dictate the next.

Golf is often called a gentleman's sport, but I think it's more accurately a teacher of character.

Every round demands patience.

Every setback demands perspective.

Every shot demands presence.

The course doesn't care about your frustration.

Trees, bunkers, water hazards, and impossible greens are equal-opportunity teachers.

Success comes from learning to manage your emotions, adapt, and move forward.

These are the same skills that determine success in life, leadership, parenting, and work.

Golf isn't just about training athletes.

It's training humans.

Update on Chef Joe:
The tubes have been removed and he is awake. Chef Joe has a long road to recovery, but the power of prayer and positive thoughts are visible. He goes into surgery some time tomorrow. Thoughts and prayers are still needed.

To everyone regarding Chef Joe: Chef still remains in ICU and the prayers and thoughts are overwhelming support. His Chef’s coat will be displayed at Blue Heron Tavern @ Providence Golf Club from today at 12:00pm to Tuesday evening at 9:00pm. Those that wish to come by and sign his Chef’s coat, leave cards or flowers, will be able to do so. Travis will drop them off at the hospital on Wednesday. He needs to feel the love in the room to pull through this. He’s not alone!
