2026 Rumble at the River $10,250 to win Recap!
Infield tractor tires and my left front tire have a love that no one can separate...
Monday: We started out our first heat 8th. I managed to sneak my way through the field, passing some heavy hitters and making a perfect 4 wide picture in the process. Finished the heat race 3rd. This gave us 5 passing points which put us in a great spot for the qualifying feature.
I rolled off the feature 3rd, and the second lap in I drilled the infield tire in turn 4 bending the center link into the frame and preventing me from being able to steer right more than a couple inches. That then caused me to not be able to counter steer and spin out trying to run the high side. After being sent to the back I stayed glued to the bottom and managed to work my way back up to 9th.
Tuesday: Started the Last Chance Heat 2nd, and lead the majority of the race but got passed at the end leaving me finishing 2nd. This put us into the Big show!
Rolled off the big $10,250 to win feature 18th. Right away noticed the car was lacking forward. I struggled through the first 6 double wide restarts. Once we started single file restarts I was able to widen the corners up some and enter soft and I started passing a few cars. I worked my way up to 14th and then like a gravitational force, I drove that Left Front tire right into the nice white infield tractor tire. I didn't draw a yellow and got back on the track. But much like Monday the center link was touching the frame and I couldn't steer right. The car went around and I cut my losses and got off the track finishing 17th.
All in all I take being able to make the feature out of 60 cars with some of the best drivers from 3 sanctioning bodies as a huge win. We have something going on with the car that is causing us to loose forward drive. With no racing in our schedule for the next two weeks the plan is to go through the car and try to find out issue. Also need to figure out how to stop hitting those infield tractor tires, or buy stock in Chevelle center links.
Huge thank you to my dad for coming up and helping piece the car back together after getting tore up Monday.
As well has huge thanks to my sponsors for helping me with these race car vacations!
