‼️Member Spotlight: Jordon Brewer‼️
Tell us a few things about yourself:
My immediate family is from Chicago suburbs. I live with my children in Bettendorf. I am a serving member of The Rock Church Davenport, being fairly active in ministry at The Rock with co-leading their singles ministry and being involved in their small groups. My hobbies: I love training at The MoveMeant as often as I can. I like reading books, especially Scripture and books from Christian authors such as Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Tim Keller, Charles Spurgeon, C. S. Lewis, and John Bunyan. I like listening to music, especially Christian, Classical, Choral works, and early 20th century Jazz. I like riding my Specialized Fat Boy as often as I can, preferably bike path riding and trail riding on easy to moderate skill-level trails. My occupation: I work for The Isle Casino as a slot technician.
Why did you start your fitness journey?
I started my fitness journey in 2015, starting at this gym and been going here ever since. I played basketball in grade school and high school. After years of life taking priority over everything else including my health, becoming divorced and a full-time single father of three children, including my youngest being special-needs, my body showed it. Not being physically active and living an unhealthy life-style showed me that I desperately needed a major change for myself. I had enough and finally searched for something to help me transform. Walking into this gym for the first time was an outstanding decision.
What is something you have accomplished since starting your fitness journey?
Since starting my fitness journey, I have transformed my mind, body, and my quality of life. When I started here in February 2015, I weighed 383 pounds. I had felt quite miserable and unhappy for years, had getting-old pains, limited mobility, a worsening knee injury from decades ago, and really could not do any of the movements in our workouts. I now weigh about 335 with greatly reduced pain and inflammation. I have a healthy medical profile, increasing strength/mobility, and past injuries that are improving and/or are healed. Many movements have become my favorites to do, with others I am improving on.
What are some of your fitness related goals?
Some of my fitness-related goals: Continue growing in functional strength, mobility and good health. Be the best me that I can be, continue being inspired by my fellow athletes, and grow ever more thankful for the blessing of a sound mind and sound body.
What do you love about working out at The MoveMeant?
What I love about working out at The MoveMeant: Our members are the reason I have stayed for so long. I am humbled and blessed to be here, to train with some of the most wonderful and inspiring people I have ever known. Many here over time have become the most beloved and valuable in my life. Our owners Ryan and Erika are the best, our coaches are the best, and our members are the best. I am beyond measure grateful for all of you.
