Good luck to our Davenport girls (Middle School and High School) representing this weekend at the Twin Rivers National Duals. The largest girls dual tournament in the WORLD! 🌎💪

🔹30 mats
🔹1,500+ female wrestlers
🔹100+ teams
🔹18 states
🔹2 straight days of nonstop battles

This is what it’s all about.

Wrestling doesn’t end when the school season does, that’s when the truly dedicated separate themselves. Getting on the mat in the offseason, traveling, and competing at the national level is how these athletes continue to grow, sharpen their skills, and chase greatness.

We’re especially proud to see our girls competing alongside athletes from all across Iowa; building friendships, learning from each other, and representing something bigger than just one team. This sport builds toughness, discipline, confidence, and lifelong bonds that go far beyond the mat.

A huge THANK YOU to the parents who make opportunities like this possible. The travel, the time, the constant support does not go unnoticed. 🙌

Special shoutout to Coach Billy Richardson for stepping up to lead a team this weekend, and to Coaches Catherine Loyd, T Park and J Park for always showing up and supporting the girls every step of the way.

Another HUGE addition to the Drake Relays lineup🔥

Let’s give it up for Kennedy Smith, who has officially qualified in the shot put 💪

Making it to the Drake Relays is no small feat, and Kennedy has earned her spot on one of the biggest stages in track and field.

Proud of the grit, strength, and consistency it takes to compete at this level.

Let’s keep it rolling, Kennedy 💥👏

🔥 Let’s show some support for one of our own, Natalie Lord 🔥

Natalie has officially qualified for the Drake Relays in the hurdles, ranking 8th in the entire state and top 5 in Class 4A… that’s ELITE company.

Representing Davenport North, she’ll be on the track Friday the 24th (prelims at 8:35 AM, finals at 10:35 AM), and what she’s done to get here speaks for itself. Work ethic, discipline, and serious talent all coming together at the right time.

This is also a perfect example of what we love about our multi-sport athletes. The toughness, grit, and competitive edge they build shows up everywhere they compete and elevates everything they’re part of, including our wrestling program.

Proud is an understatement.
Go get ‘em, Natalie 💪🔥 👏

For over 10+ years, Coach Catherine Loyd has been a constant force in girls wrestling; long before it was recognized the way it is today. From the very beginning, when girls were just starting to step onto the mats, she was there supporting, encouraging, and pushing for them to have the same opportunities and respect as anyone else in the sport.

For years, she was known as the force behind the force, helping drive growth and opportunity through her work with AAU Wrestling. And now, as our assistant coach, she’s stepped fully into her own leading, mentoring, and continuing to build something bigger than herself.

We’re incredibly lucky to have someone so dedicated, passionate, and committed to the future of girls wrestling. Her impact reaches far beyond the mat, and we’re grateful every day for everything she’s poured into this sport and our team. ⭐️

Shout-out to Girl’s Wrestling advocate, coach, etc. Catherine Loyd for winning the 2026 Iowa AAU Superstar Performance Award! Nobody in Iowa has done more for Girl’s/Women’s Wrestling than her and her husband, Jason Loyd have over the years and frankly, the sport would not have progressed to the point it has without their impact! Girl’s wrestling in this state has been blessed to have her. Also…Her son, Eli Loyd was an Iowa HS State Wrestling Champion for Pleasant Valley HS and Eli’s wife, Chloe Loyd (formerly Clemons) was a 2X State Champ for Pleasant Valley and a JCNC National Champ… They both coach at Center Point, Urbana HS now!

Congrats!

Huge shoutout to the Davenport girls who competed at AAU State this weekend! 💪🤼‍♀️

Off-season wrestling like this is where growth really happens—more mat time, new techniques, and the chance to sharpen skills before next school season. It’s also a great opportunity to face new opponents, meet new friends, and be surrounded by other girls who share the same passion and love for the sport.

Keep grinding! 🔥

Kaylee McCreery brings home a 4th place finish.

Rowan Fisher brings home a 5th place finish.

Standing in the arena and seeing Davenport Girls Wrestling alum at the Girls High School State Tournament was a powerful reminder of how far this sport (and these athletes) have come. 🖤🤍

Lina Nguyen, Class of 2023, was there volunteering. She started wrestling her senior year, proving that it’s never too late to step onto the mat. Though her competitive time was short, her commitment wasn’t. Lina has continued to stay involved and give back, showing that wrestling is about more than wins… it’s about heart and community.

Tateum Park, Class of 2020, was recognized as an IWCOA 2x State Champion representing Davenport North. She wrestled in an era when seeing another girl during the season was rare, competing on the boys’ varsity team all four years. Her courage helped open doors, and today she pours that same passion back into the sport by coaching Davenport Girls Middle School Wrestling.

These women are living proof that wrestling doesn’t just build athletes. It builds leaders, trailblazers, and lifelong contributors. The future is bright because of those who came before it. 💪🤼‍♀️

🔥 REGIONAL TOURNAMENT DAY 🔥
The Davenport Girls High School Wrestling team is headed to Iowa City High today for the Regional Tournament, the crucial qualifier for the State Championships. Wrestling begins at 4pm.

These athletes have pushed, battled, and believed all season long. Now they get the chance to earn their place at State.

If you see any of our wrestlers today, make sure to wish them well. Let’s rally behind them, show our support, and send every ounce of Davenport pride their way.

Bring the noise, Davenport — our girls are ready to make a statement.

✨ Senior Night! Come pack the gym and cheer on Davenport Girls Wrestling as they host Geneseo and Rock Island.

We will also be taking a moment to recognize our Seniors: Madison Belz, Madelynn Tran, and Lili Martinez. They’ve shown courage, commitment, and a willingness to step into something new and make it their own. Their example reminds us that leadership isn’t about how long you’ve been here, but how fully you show up.

So proud of our Davenport Girls Wrestling team after last night’s conference tournament 💪🤼‍♀️

From girls earning their very first wins last night, to one athlete who had just one win all of last year now breaking through, to others freshly moved up from middle school—this group showed grit, growth, and heart on every mat. The results go far beyond brackets and medals. This is what progress looks like. 🖤

History in the making ✨

Davenport Girls Wrestling is proud to host the first official Mississippi Athletic Conference (MAC) Girls Wrestling Tournament, a monumental step for the sport. Just one year ago, Davenport hosted an unofficial MAC girls invite because this moment didn’t yet exist. Today, it does.

This tournament marks recognition, growth, and a permanent place for girls wrestling in the MAC. What was once an opportunity created by belief and effort is now history being written.

We encourage you to come out and support our local high school female wrestlers as they continue to make history on the mat! 💪🤼‍♀️
