We’re excited to share that our new outdoor lighting is now fully installed and operational at the range!

As we continue investing in our facility, our goal remains the same: providing the best possible experience for our members and guests. These new lights improve visibility and help support our lineup of evening and low-light training opportunities.

Every improvement we make is focused on creating a better training environment and ensuring our range continues to be a place where shooters of all skill levels can learn, train, and grow.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of training 13 more responsible citizens in South Carolina’s Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) program.

Earning a CWP is about much more than carrying a firearm—it’s about understanding the law, developing safe gun-handling habits, and accepting the responsibility that comes with exercising your Second Amendment rights. Throughout the course, students received instruction on firearm safety, legal considerations, and marksmanship fundamentals.

We are proud of each student who invested their time to become a safer, more educated, and being a more prepared citizen.

As we continue working toward hosting sanctioned USPSA matches, we’re excited to announce that we will be holding our inaugural USPSA-style Outlaw Match on July 5, 2026!

This will be a great opportunity to come out, challenge your skills, and help us build the foundation for future competitive shooting events at our range. Whether you’re an experienced competitor or new to practical shooting, we’d love to have you join us.

The match will be posted on PractiScore within the next few days. Once registration goes live, we’ll share another update with all the details.

This past weekend, John and Chris attended the NROI (National Range Officers Institute) Range Safety Officer class hosted by Mid Carolina Rifle Club.

They successfully completed the course and are now certified USPSA Range Safety Officers!

As we continue working toward hosting USPSA matches at our range, investing in quality training and education remains a top priority. Safe, fair, and professionally run matches start with knowledgeable staff, and this certification is another important step in preparing for the future of practical shooting at A&J Fi****ms and Training.

A huge thank you to Mid Carolina for sponsoring and hosting the class, as well as the instructors who dedicated their time to teaching the class.

This week’s Drill of the Week!

HOW IT WORKS:
Start on an open, easy target and attack it with speed. The goal is to get acceptable hits quickly without over-confirming your sights.

Immediately transition to a smaller or partially covered “hard” target. As target difficulty increases, your vision and patience have to increase as well. Slow your eyes down just enough to confirm what you need to see for accurate hits.

KEY FOCUS POINTS:
➡️ Explosive entry onto open targets
➡️ Fast visual transitions between targets
➡️ Picking up acceptable sight information quickly
➡️ Controlled hits on difficult targets
➡️ Understanding when to push speed and when to apply discipline

This drill will help teach you to process information instead of shooting every target at the same pace.
