WSP always finds something to do on the water, with or without wind! This past Wednesday we practiced rigging spinnakers when the wind wouldn’t cooperate and then on Thursday we had a fabulous evening on the J109!

Summer temps are here but that didn’t prevent us from hosting a fabulous evening for the Women on the Water - WOW east chapters! Our fleet for the event consisted of Ideal 18s, Sonars, a J/109 and J/99 and we found wind just off Long Neck Point. Then we wrapped up the evening with a trivia organized by our WOW rep Lorraine titled “Impressions of the Sea” featuring nautical inspired paintings.

Too much fun for a Monday!

Thank you to all who joined us, skippered and organized the event!

Last night, we came together to celebrate another incredible season and recognize the accomplishments of some truly exceptional sailors. Congratulations to Anne Bavier, recipient of the McCurdy Perpetual Women's Racing Trophy, and Laina Grady, who was awarded the Most Improved award for her outstanding progress this year!

We also proudly announced that Nancy Pearson will be honored with the WSP Racing Trophy at the club-wide awards ceremony this fall, as she couldn't join us last night.

A huge thank you to all the mentors in our program for their continued leadership and guidance, helping us shape a strong and supportive community. Here's to another successful season of sailing!

Scenes from this week on the water…

On Monday, we sailed 'Little Fish,' the club’s chartered J105 from SUNY Maritime. It’s a high-performance vessel for offshore racing and is used to train sailors to work together as a team. We were thrilled to have the chance to sail on her!

On Wednesday, we were limited by the lack of wind so practiced rigging and flying the spinnaker on the Ideal 18. Always great fun with this lovely group of women even when we’re still tied to the dock!
