The Darien YMCA

The Darien YMCA The Darien YMCA is a registered 501c3 charitable organization that is a vital and critical part of our community.

Our facility includes the only two indoor swimming pools in Darien. These pools house the Darien High School and Piranhas swim team as well as classes and recreational swimming. We also have a new state of the art gymnastics center which houses the Darien High School gymnastics team, Y team, and classes for younger children.

🎓✨ Today we celebrated the Holly Pond School Class of 2026! ✨🎓

What a special day at the Darien YMCA as we watched our Holly Pond School students take a big step forward! From singing songs with smiles and enthusiasm to proudly hearing their names called, these young graduates filled the room with joy, excitement, and plenty of proud moments. 🎶👏

We loved seeing their personalities shine, their families cheer them on, and their teachers celebrate all they’ve accomplished this year. Kindergarten, here they come!

🎉 Meet Our New Board President, Peter Higgins! 🎉

Please join us in welcoming Peter Higgins as the new President of the Darien YMCA Board of Directors!

Peter and his family have been members of the Darien YMCA since 2020, and the Y has played an important role in their family's health and well-being. His connection to the YMCA, however, goes back much further. Peter and his wife first met as members of the swim team at the Somerset Valley YMCA in New Jersey in the mid-1980s, helping spark a lifelong appreciation for the YMCA and its impact on families and communities.

Professionally, Peter brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience in the finance industry and currently serves as Head of Fixed Income at Shelton Capital Management.

After serving on the Board and seeing firsthand the positive impact the Y has on local families, Peter was inspired to take on this leadership role and help advance our mission.

As Board President, Peter is excited to help strengthen our community, expand opportunities for members, and ensure the Darien YMCA continues to make a lasting impact for generations to come.

We are grateful for Peter's commitment to the Y and look forward to all that we'll accomplish together. 💙

The excitement is building as our Holly Pond School Class of 2026 prepares for graduation later this month!

Over the past year, these amazing children have grown in confidence, creativity, friendship, and independence. Through play, discovery, and hands-on learning, they’ve built a strong foundation for the next step in their educational journey.

💙 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY AT THE DARIEN YMCA! 💪🎉

Today, we proudly hosted Senior Health & Fitness Day at the Darien Y. A fun-filled day focused on healthy living, connection, wellness, and community for active older adults.

Participants had the opportunity to:
✅ Meet with local health and wellness vendors
✅ Enjoy fitness and educational classes
✅ Receive health screenings and wellness information
✅ Connect with friends and neighbors
✅ Spend meaningful social time together

From great conversations to valuable resources and plenty of smiles, it was truly a wonderful day celebrating healthy aging and community connection. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success!

✨ WHAT A NIGHT AT THE Y! ✨

Last night, we had the privilege of celebrating our incredible Darien YMCA community at our Annual Celebration. From longtime members and volunteers to families, staff, and supporters, the evening was filled with connection, inspiration, and meaningful stories about the impact the Y has on so many lives.

We heard from amazing speakers who shared powerful personal journeys and reminded us that the Y is so much more than a building. It’s a place where friendships are formed, families grow stronger, and community comes together.
