Though this weekend didn’t finish the way we wanted it to, we did learn a little bit about ourselves. When put to the test, we were able to break up 3” of ice that measured its surface area at 75,000sqft, just to be able to play the game we love.

We learned about what it takes to be successful at a task that’s not on the job application. We learned that not everyone is willing to work hard, or help people work hard, to achieve their goals. We also learned that this program and University have a strong support base that will always come to aid. Lacrosse might be new to Danville, but the tradition of Averett’s community engagement is something we’ve done for 165+ years.

Thank you to everyone who came to our aid, and helped us play our first game. We’ll be back out there in March to make you all proud once again!

Averett Lacrosse is looking to the community for help!

We have our home opener this Saturday and need help with our playing surface! With all of the snow and ice, it’s taken us off the field for an entire week. And we’ve been shoveling for 3 days around the snow. In an attempt to prep for this weekend’s home opener, we’re looking for any help from those able!

We will be on Daly Field tomorrow from 9am until we finish, and would really appreciate any help! Please bring a shovel and positive energy!
