Thoughts from Trump's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (or why you must get your friends and relatives out to vote and support anyone but Trump):
Military character is a combination of qualities that are essential for military service, including loyalty, initiative, and a sense of responsibility. It includes the ability to inspire and develop others, and to subordinate oneself to the will of higher authority.
Some examples of military character include:
•Operational character: Perseverance, courage, accountability, and adherence to policy
•Intrinsic character: Humility, respect, patience, self-control, discipline, empathy, and concern for others
•Core values: Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage
Soldiers learn these values during Basic Combat Training (BCT) and strive to live them every day.
For 40 years these are the qualities that have defined General Mark Milley’s military character.
Milley served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Trump and Biden, between October 2019 and September 2023.
During his retirement speech, Milley said Trump was a "wannabe dictator."
He added: "We don't take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution,
and we take an oath to the idea that is America—and we're willing to die to protect it."
In Milley’s interview with Bob Woodward Milley said this about Trump:
“No one has ever been as dangerous to this country as Donald Trump,” the general told Woodward.
“Now I realize he’s a total fascist. He is the most dangerous person to this country.”
