“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

We often quote this verse like a gentle reminder to slow down and breathe.

And it is comforting.

But the original Hebrew word for “be still” is raphah - and it carries the meaning of Letting go. Releasing your grip. Ceasing your striving.

In context, God is not speaking into a peaceful, quiet moment. He is declaring this in the middle of chaos — waters roaring, mountains shaking, kingdoms falling.

And right there, in the noise, He says:

Stop striving.
Let go.
I am God.

Not because everything around you has become calm.

But because He is still God in the middle of it all.

This is what we practice in mindful movement
This is what we practice in the breath.
This is what we practice when life feels anything but still.

Save this for the week when your soul needs to remember:
you don’t have to hold it all together.

Sometimes prayer looks like words.

Sometimes it looks like hands raised. Sometimes like a whispered “help.” Sometimes like a Psalm read out loud.

And sometimes - often more than we admit - prayer looks like this.

A body.
A breath.
A soul finally still enough to be heard.

If your prayers have felt harder to speak lately, friend — don’t panic. Don’t perform. Don’t force the words.

Just get still.

Let your shoulders drop. Let your jaw soften. Let your breath deepen. Let your body do the praying your mouth can’t seem to find.

God hears the sighs, too. Scripture says so.

“The Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26

You do not have to have the right words to be heard by God.

You only have to be present.

Notice the light.

Not one big beam. Not one dramatic entrance. Not one perfect moment.

Just quiet, patient light — finding every seam, every crack, every corner of the room it was always meant to reach.

That is often how God works in a woman's life.

Not with the thunderclap you were bracing for. Not with the sudden fix you kept praying for. Not with the big, clarifying breakthrough that would finally make sense of it all.

Just quiet light. Slow warmth. Steady presence. Reaching corners of you that you'd almost given up on.

If your healing has felt slower than you wanted —
If your prayers have felt quieter than you hoped —
If your hard season has stretched on longer than you thought you could hold —

the light is still coming in.

He hasn't stopped. He never does.

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." — John 1:5

Soften today. Let the light in.

It always finds its way.
So do you.

Some mornings, His Word is a floodlight.
Some mornings, it's only a lamp.

Just enough light for the next step.

That was always the design.

The Bible doesn't promise to illuminate the whole road ahead. It promises to give you enough to see where your foot is about to land.

If you can't see the whole plan, the whole outcome, the whole way through — you're not lost. You're simply being asked to trust the next step.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105

Open the Word today. Not to solve the whole day.

Just to see the next step.

"Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." — Jeremiah 17:7–8

Notice what this verse doesn't promise.

It doesn't say the heat won't come. It doesn't say there won't be drought. It doesn't say the seasons will always be kind.

It says: your roots will reach where they need to reach.

The tree that trusts doesn't have to muster its own strength. It doesn't have to strive. It doesn't have to figure out how to stay green in the heat. It just has to stay planted near the water.

Your nervous system was never meant to bear the drought alone.
Your soul was never meant to tend to itself.

Stay rooted. He is the stream.

Notice where this little flower chose to bloom.

Not in a clearing. Not in full sun. Not somewhere easy.

In the dim, dappled corner of the forest floor — surrounded by shadow, rooted in dark soil, tender and small and impossibly gold.

This is what softness looks like in a hard season.

Somewhere along the way, we started confusing tension with responsibility. Bracing became the way we prepared for the day. Tightening became the way we held ourselves together. Softening felt like something we hadn't earned — something for after the deadline, after the diagnosis, after the season passed.

But softness is not weakness. It's the posture of someone who knows they are held.

"He gently leads those who are with young." — Isaiah 40:11

Your body is allowed to un-brace. Your shoulders are allowed to drop. Your jaw is allowed to release.

The day will still come. You don't have to meet it with clenched fists.

Bloom where you are. Even in the shadow.

Especially in the shadow.

A gentle reminder for the woman scrolling past another "what I eat in a day" video wondering if she's doing it all wrong:

Your body is not a project to optimize.
Your plate is not a moral test.
Your hunger is not a discipline problem.

Somewhere along the way, we started treating food like an enemy to outsmart — cutting things out, tracking every bite, earning our meals with movement, apologizing for the way we eat in front of other people.

But nourishment is not the enemy of healing. It's part of it.

Your nervous system cannot regulate on an empty stomach.
Your body cannot rest if it doesn't trust you to feed it.
Your soul cannot flourish inside a body you're at war with.

Eat the meal.
Eat the second helping if you need it.
Eat without narrating why.
Eat without earning it.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." — 1 Corinthians 10:31

He made you a body that needs food. That's not a flaw. That's a gift.
