Ian picked up his second points championship and was awarded the overall point championship today at Centerville Dragway. Ian had six win in seven final rounds.

Ian will be headed back to Holly Springs this coming week to drag race with Team Centerville at the IHRA Team Finals.

Ian picked up this third win of the year! It was a hot day at Centerville Dragway.

Ian went to the finals tonight where he got runner up. Ian was on fire today. He ran five 8.95's in a roll. Never seen a jr do that before.

What a great weekend headed into the IHRA World Finals. Ian not only picked up his fourth win of the year, he also won the Dollar Jackpot round with a .0099 reaction time. Big thanks to Skyway Buick GMC in Joplin, MO, Dardanelle Tire and Auto, Dunn Callin, and The Speed Shop for all of the help this year.

Many of today’s top drag racers started in the IHRA Junior Dragster program. Ian Gilkey, an 11-year-old from Danville, Arkansas, hopes to carry on that tradition.

He races a 2001 John Green Junior Dragster at his home track of Centerville Dragway Inc..

Gilkey, who calls Race Rogers his racing hero, has been competing for a year and a half. But, he has found success with multiple wins and several semifinal appearances. The best part of racing for him is dropping people on the big end.

As someone who enjoys history, Gilkey wants to make some history of his own with a goal to move up to the Sportsman class and eventually working his way up to Top.
