Wanting to lose weight and wanting to be “fit” are not the same thing.

TRUE- We may need to lose some body fat to personally be fit.

BUT skinny without muscle is not strength.

Skinny without good cardiovascular health is not fitness.

Skinny at the expense of our other health markers is IMO tempting as hell
but NOT the same as fitness.

Can we do both ? MEANING lose weight AND improve our fitness?

Yes.

Do some of us at times need to prioritize weight loss as part of our fitness path?

Yes.

But do NOT confuse the concepts of skinny & fit.

Strength.
Flexibility.
Balance.
Coordination.
Endurance.

These fitness markers ALL matter.

I get the temptation to chase skinny.

I love when my clothes fit well and when I have less jiggle in my middle.

But losing sight of our strength goals and sacrificing muscle to be “tiny”, isn’t the longevity path …

Again - yes, decreasing visceral fat and being at a healthy weight is important but it does not trump the benefits
of being fit.

This is a loving message that is not intended to judge. I’ve been down so many body composition paths in my 55 years which makes me compassionate and empathetic to ALL the viewpoints on this topic.

The push for skinny is back with a vengeance in our western culture.

The noise is loud and I hear it too.

I’m here to say - take good care …

Kind of like - we can’t just wax the car—-
it needs tune ups, oil changes and fuel to get us where we want to go reliably.

Love on yourself and treat your body like it’s the only one you’ve got - because it is. ♥️

Sorry if that’s triggering
and true - if your goals are simply to move more, it can be a great activity.

IMO An exception - working a farm that includes squatting, lifting heavy things repeatedly, etc might aptly replace strength training.

The good news, your strength training should make your gardening tasks easier physically.

Keep going.

I love cardio. It has its place. But the sooner we get on board with strength training the better. PS it’s never too lat...

Gah! I was shocked AND inspired so I created this FREE tool.

I looked at a candid photo the other day and saw my posture in real time.

This trainer had to admit she’d neglected the good daily posture habits she knows to use.

(Yes, I use third person when I’m aggravated with myself 😉)

I noticed in that photo just how much my forward rolled shoulders and chin jutting out aged my appearance.

As someone who used to get compliments on her posture and teaches posture-promoting exercises, I was “inspired “.
