Winter and dehydration.      
      
We typically think of dehydration as being a warm weather or summertime concern. But, it can happen during the winter. Some contributing factors;      
      
• Low Humidity - indoor heating dries out the moisture in the air indoors, and cold, dry air outdoors contributes to water loss as we breathe.       
    • Reduced Thirst - cold water can reduce the bodies thirst by up to 40%       
    • Reduced sweating - sweat evaporates more quickly in cold weather, making it difficult sometimes to notice fluid loss.      
    • Dry skin - dry skin cannot retain moisture as well, and contributes to fluid loss.       
      
In order to stay hydrated, it is recommended that you drink at least half of your body weight (pounds) in ounces each day. For example, someone who weighs 150 pounds should drink a minimum of 75 ounces of water daily.       
      
How to drink all of that water? Start off your day by having 8 - 12 ounces when you wake up, and before each meal, another 8 - 12 ounces, which also helps with digestion and to satiate your appetite. Get into the habit of carrying a water bottle with you during the day.

Beginning Saturday, January 17th we will be offering ONE class on Saturdays. The Warm-Up will begin at 08:45 for anyone who would like to get some extra mobility in, and the Workout briefing will begin at 09:00.   
  
This class, as well as Sunday classes will also be available to anyone with an Open Gym membership so that you can stay connected with the community and get in a great workout to kick off your weekend. Hope to see you all there!!

A partir de sábado, 17 de janeiro, ofereceremos UMA aula aos sábados. O aquecimento começará às 08:45 para quem quiser ganhar mais mobilidade, e o briefing do treino começará às 09:00.   
  
Esta aula, assim como as aulas de domingo, também estarão disponíveis para qualquer pessoa com uma assinatura Open Gym para que você possa se manter conectado com a comunidade e fazer um ótimo treino para começar seu fim de semana. Espero ver todos vocês lá!!

Farewell to Coach Joao

It’s with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of Coach Joao from our CrossFit 203 family. Over the past 3 years Joao has been more than just a coach; he’s been a mentor, a motivator, and a true friend to all of us.

His energy, dedication, and passion for CrossFit have inspired us to push beyond our limits and become stronger, both physically and mentally. Whether it was during those early morning WODs, the post-workout high-fives, or the endless encouragement during tough lifts, Coach Joao always made sure we left the gym better than we arrived.

While we’re sad to see Joao go, we’re excited for the new opportunities and adventures that lie ahead for him. The impact he’s made here at CrossFit 203 will be felt for years to come, and his legacy will live on in every PR, every WOD completed, and every member he’s inspired.

Let’s all take a moment to thank Coach Joao for everything he’s done for our community. We wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter. Remember, Coach, you’ll always have a home here at CrossFit 203.
