Yesterday’s catch!

Limit of Sheephead up to 16.5” and a chunky 14” Sculipn! I’m ready for some fish tacos 😃

Location: Dana Point, CA...the Strand!

It was opening day for Rock Fish so I decided to target Sheephead as usual. I didn’t limit or have a steady bite, but the fish I caught were all about quality!

My stringer was 13”, then 15”, 15.5”, & 17”. Not too bad! The Game Warden came for a visit but all was good to go.

I was using market shrimp for bait. My setup was basically a knocker rig consisting of a 1/0 light wire circle hook, 3/4 oz egg sinker, and a bead.

Creating fishing videos are pretty amazing but time consuming to put together, yet I truly love making and sharing them with all of you. I love being on the water and I want you to see what I see!

This past Saturday I started out at the long jetty in search of Halibut. Last week prior I had one latch on but it wouldn’t stick so I decided to try again. I hung around there for a while waiting for my kayak buds to show up only to find out that they were already on the beach, so I went in to meet them.

We found all the usual surf species but I had to cut the trip short because I lost my rudder control.

We had a pretty good day last Saturday off the Corona Del Mar Kelp beds. We launched inside of Newport harbor and headed south. The Sheepshead were biting on shrimp and everything else came on squid. It was an interesting mixed bag and the keeper size Sheepshead came a later on in the day.

Dana Point Bass& Butts!

We loaded up on bait, left the harbor and headed North to the Headlands and beach about 1 mile or so. I was planning to drift the beach for Butts and White Seabass.

The sea state was awesome and flat. The sky was overcast and the temperature was comfortable.

We headed north out of Dana Point harbor after loading up on a mix of sardines and anchovies. I tried to make some mini Maks, but only found larger ones. My goal was to drift along the beach to find some quality Halibut and luck into a legal WSB while Anthony hit the Kelp beds.

I managed several baby White Sea Bass and a couple of short Halibut. The sea star was surprisingly nice and much different than what was forecasted, but we did have a few pretty good swells come in before we called it a day. Anthony had a very slow day at the Kelp, not much was happening there.
