Rain Rain Go Away.
Well, it looks like our run of nice Saturdays is over and we're in for a little rain tomorrow. The "official" shop ride is cancelled for tomorrow. If rain is eminent or coming down, then I won't be riding outside. I may just do a Rouvy ride instead and save my road miles for Sunday. If anyone is up for a 3-4hr "tempo" ride on Sunday, I'll be leaving from South Germantown Park traffic circle around 9am (could be persuaded to meet up by 8am). I plan on riding out towards Poolesville, Whites Ferry, Dickerson, Sugarloaf and back to SGtPk. Reply to this email if you're interested in meeting up for a Sunday ride.

Hello All,

Shop opens at 7:00 Ride rolls at 7:30am sharp. We will have to hold a steady pace and not too many quick stops so we can get back to the shop by 10am. Let's all work together to keep it rolling this week. The expected pace for the ride is 17+/-mph average. Please load the route on your GPS if you are unsure of the route or ability to maintain the pace.

Since the K2 Cafe has closed in Poolesville, we will be making a brief water stop at the gas station at the intersection of Beallsville Rd & Fisher Ave.

As always... we are responsible for one another's safety... please stay to the right half of the road and ride in a single or double pace line when possible... if you don't want to pull through, surf the draft at the back of the group. Road bike, helmet & daytime riding lights are required. Let's be safe and have a fun ride. Watermelon, cold water and wet iced face towels will be available after the ride...

NOTE:

Previous rides have been very spirited, and the group quickly broke up when riders got caught at traffic lights in Clarksburg. I will give a ride briefing before we start but let's all plan on riding together at an easier pace until we hit the first traffic circle on Clarksburg Road near the Shopping Outlet.

Regroup points (quick 1 minute or so stop):

(1) Barnesville Road & Selman (1 minute regroup)
(2) White Store-Peachtree (1 minute regroup)
(3) Peachtree-Lewis Orchard (1 minute regroup)
(4) Poolesville - (5 minute water stop and-or bathroom break)
(5) Dickerson MARC Station (1 minute regroup)
(6) Sugarloaf entrance (1 minute regroup and water stop)
(7) Snowden Farm- Clarksburg Rd (1 minute regroup)
(8) Oak Drive- top of climb (regroup with riders near you and ride together back to the shop)

If you want to, test your legs on the Strava segments and circle back to regroup with the ride. The last rider doesn't stop until we get to K2 Cafe and Sugarloaf entrance.

This Saturday looks like it will be 61^ at the start and 71^ by the end of the ride. The shop will open at 7:30am, ride rolls promptly at 8am and returns by 10am.
Please be sure to dress appropriately for cooler morning temperatures. Layering up is the best thing to do, so you can peel off as you warm up. As always, road bike, helmet and daytime riding lights are required. Please be sure to stay to the right of the road and no more than two by two riding next to one another. We will maintain a steady pace and regroup as necessary. Average speed is usually around 16mph for 32 hillier miles. Each rider is responsible for their own safety and should be aware of others and alert to all traffic and road conditions.
