(405)

Prime was founded in 2011 by Eric and Christy Giroux. Two long-time personal trainers that had a very clear vision on creating an amazing environment for fitness training. Rooted in a deep belief that inside the 4 walls should feel like family, Eric and Christy grew an amazing cast of clients that quickly felt like family. In 2020, much like the rest of the world, Prime was forced to change its op

erations and move to a completely online business model. They were able to execute an amazing online group program that kept clients motivated, strong, and feeling connected through some very tough times. Christy, the co-founder of Prime has switched gears in her life and taken on the amazing adventure of returning to school to pursue her degree in Acupuncture! Along with Christy's change, Eric too saw a BIG need for his and future clients. The one thing that we found out during the pandemic is that so many people NEED help with their fitness & nutrition. Eric found out that the use of technology has enabled a high level of accountability and amazing results for his clients.

Muscle Is More Than Aesthetic

Most people think building muscle is about looking better.

And sure... that's a nice bonus.

But muscle does a lot more than fill out a t-shirt.

Muscle helps:

✅ Support joints
✅ Improve metabolism
✅ Improve insulin sensitivity
✅ Increase daily calorie burn
✅ Maintain independence as we age

Think of muscle like a retirement account.

The more you invest now...

The more you'll have available later.

At 75, nobody cares what your body fat percentage was at 45.

But you'll care if you can climb stairs confidently, carry groceries, and get off the floor without assistance.

Muscle isn't vanity.

It's insurance.

Your Muscles Aren't Running The Show

Your muscles are the workers.

Your nervous system is the boss.

And if the boss isn't doing its job, things get messy.

Neuromuscular control is your body's ability to coordinate movement, maintain balance, and control force.

It's why some people can lift a lot of weight...
..but struggle to stand on one leg while putting on a pair of pants.

Balance.

Coordination.

Joint stability.

These things become increasingly important as we age.

Not because we're getting old.

Because life requires them.

Walking on uneven ground.

Stepping off a curb.

Carrying groceries.

Playing with grandkids.

Strength without control is like having a sports car with bad steering.

The horsepower is there.

But you can't use it effectively.

Skill Comes Before Strength

One of the biggest mistakes I see?

People trying to get stronger before they learn how to move.

Imagine trying to hit a golf ball 300 yards before learning how to swing.

That's what happens when we skip movement skill.

Before you load a squat...

You need to know how to squat.

Before you deadlift...

You need to know how to hinge.

Before you get stronger...

You need to move well.

Skill training isn't flashy.

It won't leave you drenched in sweat.

But it creates the foundation for everything that comes next.

Because if you can't own the movement...

You can't fully load the movement.

And if you can't load it, you'll never reach your strength potential.

Move better first.

Strength follows.

Strength Isn't Just One Thing

Most people think strength means lifting heavier weights.

But strength is much bigger than that.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to show you the different types of strength I use with clients every day.

Because building muscle isn't the same as building power.

Power isn't the same as endurance.

And endurance isn't the same as moving well.

The problem?

Most people train randomly and hope everything improves.

The solution?

Train the quality you actually want to improve.

Over the next several posts we'll cover:

✅ Skill & Ability
✅ Neuromuscular Control
✅ Hypertrophy (Muscle Building)
✅ Pure Strength
✅ Endurance
✅ Power
✅ Work Capacity

By the end, you'll understand why strength training is about a lot more than simply lifting weights.

Which type of strength do you think matters most as we age?

Today’s workout has the energy of a golden retriever that drank pre-workout and found your old gym playlist. 🫠💪

100 plank jacks to start is a bold choice. That’s not a warm-up. That’s a character assessment.

But here’s the deal…

You do not need a perfect week.
You do not need motivation wrapped in a sunrise quote and soft piano music.
You just need to show up and do the next rep.

Some days fitness feels powerful.
Some days it feels like negotiating with your hamstrings and life choices.

Both still count.

Your mission today:
Finish it all…
OR…
Get through as much as you can before your soul starts leaving your body somewhere around seal jacks and squat thrusts. 😂

Because effort still matters.
Consistency still wins.
And nobody ever regretted finishing a workout once it was over.

Let’s get stronger today.
Let’s sweat a little.
Let’s complain just enough to make it fun.

And remember:
The people who get results usually aren’t the most motivated.
They’re the ones who kept showing up even when 100 plank jacks sounded absolutely ridiculous. 😎🔥

Core Crusher 🔥

20–25 Min Midline Mayhem

WARM-UP:
• TRX Plank x 20 sec
• TRX Knee Tucks x 8

• 8 TRX Pike or Plank
• 12 TRX Hamstring Curl
• 20 sec TRX Side Plank

Your abs are supposed to do more than just exist for beach season.

This week is all about:

Core stability
Anti-rotation
Strength
Better movement

Translation:
Your trunk is getting upgraded.

Also…
You may laugh less tomorrow.
