Day 27 of goes to softness, patience, and Milkshake! When we brought her home she was starved, super quiet, and only reactive to touch on joints that had no fat pad. As she has gotten up to a healthy weight her personality and needs have been clear and loud. This video from tonight isnāt great (itās hard to video while lunging!) but it showcases how far a horse can come when given the patience, understanding, and softness they deserve. Sheās in the arena with Bug and Dixie, the two top mares in her herd. Generally she requires a lot of distance from them and is nervous, but here she is quiet, head low, and making soft smooth transitions from walk to trot. Iām grateful for the privilege of working with her, and for being so patient teaching me how to handle her in the ways she needs.
