Muscongus Bay Wildlife Tour - 3 Hours

This is a great trip for anyone who wants to spend a few hours kayaking among beautiful islands and looking for wildlife. The tour will visit scenic vistas while taking advantage of wildlife sightings which could include seals, eagles, porpoises, and more! The explorer tour is a bit more adventurous than the Wildlife Tour. We will be paddling out to e

xplore the islands of Muscongus Bay in search of seals, sea birds and fun. This trip will allow time for an island stop, a swim and a provided snack! Muscongus Bay Sunset Tour - 2 Hours

Relax into the sights and sounds of the bay as day sets into night. This is an amazing time to be out on the water! Oyster Ecology Tour - 3 Hours

Enjoy a natural history tour of this unique ecosystem, the only protected ecosystem of its kind in Maine. Once back on land, t experience real Maine oysters hand-shucked by the guide! Rentals:

Beginner Kayaking - 2 Hours

This basic course is for the beginner kayaker. We will practice stepping in and out of the kayak. On the water we will practice forward paddling, turning and stopping. Sea Kayak Fundamentals - 3.5 Hours

The touring class is for beginners and those that would like more practice feeling confident on the water. We will discuss weather and tides, route/trip planning, and safety gear. Plenty of time will be spent learning the forward, reverse and sweep strokes which we will practice while exploring. Emphasis will then be placed on self and assisted rescues, one of the most important skills for sea kayaking.

Midcoast Kayak to celebrate 20th Year on the waterfront in Damariscotta

Midcoast Kayak will celebrate its twentieth anniversary on Friday, August 8 at the Kayak Shack on the wharf at Schooner Landing Restaurant and Marina at 47 Main St. in Damariscotta. Midcoast Kayak, serving customers in the heart of the Damariscotta waterfront for the past two decades, will celebrate with the local community by hosting discounted oyster tours and kayak rentals throughout the day. Come on by and get on the water!

Join Midcoast Kayak this Thursday, July 10th, for a fabulous Full Moon Tour on Muscongus Bay. Watch the sun set as the moon rises over the Bay. This is an experience you do not want to miss. The tour meets at 6:30 pm at our launch in Muscongus Harbor Marina, and finishes up around 9:00.

Join us for a front row seat of the fireworks in Damariscotta. We will mix in a bit of paddling and then watch the fireworks on the water. 7:30 to 9:30 pm on a July 4th. $55 per person.

During peak summer, we have to hold onto most of our inventory for tours, but with tours winding down for the season, we’re making everything available! Sea kayaks, rec kayaks, tandems, canoes, paddle boards, paddles, life jackets, and more. Give us a call to find out what we’ve got and their prices, or come on by. It’s our last week that the shop is open daily 9-5, and then through September we’ll be open a few days a week. There’s still a lot of summer left to enjoy on a new (used) vessel!

Join us for one of our upcoming sunset tours! Golden hour is just magical out on Muscongus bay 🌅 with all kinds of wildlife making their evening journeys. The diurnal (daytime) creatures head home and the crepuscular (twilight) animals come out to play, so we get to see them all! Plus the water and lighting is just so good.

The sunset tours run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 and they’re the perfect end to a busy day. All levels of experience welcome ✨

For only $25 you get two hours with an expert guide to increase your skills and understanding of efficient and safe Kayaking. Maybe you’ve kayaked many times but maybe it’s been a few years, maybe you want to enhance your skills, or maybe you’re new and have always wanted to learn! Meet your oyster and eat it too! That’s our new motto for our weekly oyster ecology tours right on the Damariscotta river.

These hot summer days are perfect for getting on the water and enjoying oysters. It’s always so much cooler on the water and after paddling around and learning about the oyster farms, enjoying the breeze, we come ashore and eat some fresh oysters that were raised right in the farms we just visited.

Summer is upon us and we’ve got wildlife kayaking tours every single day!

Our Muscungous Bay Wildlife tour happens every day but Tuesday! Spend three hours exploring one of the most scenic bays with a certified Maine Guide. Look out for seals, ospreys, turns, and possibly an old ship wreck!

Our Explorer Tour is also out on Muscungous Bay and it’s an hour longer, leaving room for more exploration, a swim, and a complimentary snack!

And our Oyster Ecology tour is right here out on the Damariscotta river, Maine’s capital of oyster farming. You’ll get to kayak right through some of the farms and learn all about them, plus at the end we serve you fresh complimentary oysters that were grown right here!
