September 8th is Lissencephaly Awareness Day! Make sure to wear purple or blue to show your support for our sweet Bo 💜💙
Why these colors?
💙 Blue represents rare diseases & disorders. Lissencephaly is 1 out of 100,000 births causing it to be very rare.
💜 Purple represents epilepsy and seizure disorders, a prominent and awful symptom caused by Liss.
What is Lissencephaly?
It is a rare brain malformation where the folds do not develop, causing “smooth brain.” It affects movements, vision, seizures, learning & development & more. There is no cure but with love, strength, & resilience, he pushes through everyday!
What are some of the hardships Bo deals with?
He deals with daily seizures, medications & side effects, developmental delays, tube feeds, vision impairment & processing, hospital visits, specialist appointments & more. You never know what each day will bring.
Fun Fact: The mascot is a koala because they are born with smooth brains! 🐨
Thank you to everyone who continues to support & pray for our warrior Bo!!
