Look for hard bottom on the bank or in shallow water offshore and you’ll be likely to find bluegill beds this time of year. Bass tend to be lurking close by and any bluegill imitating baits nearby are in trouble

Especially during the cooler parts of the day around dawn and dusk, look for bigger fish to be roaming the shallows with deep water access. As the sun comes up and starts beating down, any offshore structure will do. Deeper grass edges, trees, rock piles, brush piles, and more at our lakes hold fish in deeper water in the summer months.

Both small bass and crappie will create a difficult environment for big bass to grow — competing for forage, habitat, and other resources. In this case at this lake (one of two on the property), we request that members remove bass under 14 inches and all crappie.
