NYC FAVORITE 'MAMAN' BRINGING FRENCH CHARM TO CASA LINDA: East Dallas is getting a major dose of floral aesthetics and famous cookies! 🍪🌸 Maman, the beloved New York City-based French bakery and café, has filed permits to open a new location in the historic Casa Linda Plaza.

The $450,000 project involves a complete transformation of the 2,366-square-foot space that formerly housed Schlotzsky's (Suite 124). Known for their rustic-chic décor, hanging plants, and "Oprah-approved" Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookies, Maman will be stripping the old deli space down. The renovation includes a brand-new kitchen, updated mechanical systems, and the installation of their signature interior finishes to create a cozy, European garden atmosphere.

Construction is scheduled to begin this spring on April 5, 2026, with a target completion date of November 5, 2026

The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to spend it than visiting our nearby gem, The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden! Holiday at the Arboretum just opened on Nov. 12 and runs through Jan. 4. Such sad news for donut fans. Not just any donuts, though. Hypnotic Donuts. The place that took donuts to creative tasty heights closed permanently today, May 20. This was shortly after the Chinese restaurant further down on the same strip, Hong Kong, closed its doors after 60 years. 😭

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of Hypnotic Donuts. After 12 years of serving the best donuts and chicken biscuits in Dallas, it is time to retire.

We are so grateful for the years of community love and support. We will miss you.

Burger Schmurger. No, it's not some apathetic response to "Honey, do you want burgers for dinner tonight?" It's actually the name of the new burger joint that just opened in the former Bar None space on Buckner Blvd. And from the looks of things, I think this is a great addition to our area. Check it out, if not for the burgers, at least for the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga combo arcade game! Details in the latest Lakewood Advocate article:
