🥋 Congratulations to Jennifer on earning her Black Belt — and on making history as Red Wolf Dojo’s first white-to-black belt student!
Jennifer began her Cuong Nhu journey in late 2019, earning her first green strip in January 2020 — just before the world came to a halt. While many stepped back during the COVID pandemic, Jennifer never stopped. She adapted, competed, and grew, earning her two green strips through Zoom rank tests and participating in her first IATCs virtually. That dedication paid off with a 2nd place finish in the Adult White Belt Virtual Tournament in December 2020, followed by a 1st place finish in the Adult Green Belt Virtual Tournament in May 2021.
As the years went on, Jennifer’s commitment only deepened. She traveled to four states in pursuit of her black belt — visiting Unity Dojo in Little Rock, AR; Tree of Life Dojo in Atlanta, GA; World Headquarters in Jacksonville, FL; and an IATC in North Carolina. Along the way, she served as an Uke in two Sandan demonstrations and represented the art through public performances, including a talent show and Lunar New Year celebrations.
Two moments stand out as especially meaningful along her path. Having Grand Master Quinn and Master Jessica personally administer her green belt test was an honor she will never forget. And during her two brown strip test, Master Robbert approached her and — without a word from anyone — recognized that Jennifer was dyslexic. That moment of being truly seen meant the world to her.
Jennifer was also a key part of establishing Red Wolf Dojo here in Dallas, helping to build something that will impact students for years to come.
From her first white belt steps to the black belt she wears today, Jennifer has shown us what it truly means to be a martial artist — resilient, determined, and always moving forward.
