TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS HISTORY — THE HULK SMASHED TWICE!

We just talked about Jim “The Hulk” Davis smashing his way to the 2012–2013 Capitol City Clash Championship.

Well… THE HULK WASN’T FINISHED!

Jim followed up that victory by winning the 2012–2013 Bama Blast, becoming the FIRST coach in Tournament of Champions history to win back-to-back TOC tournaments!

That’s what made The Hulk so dangerous. Jim brought one of the strongest and most physical teams in the hobby, and during this stretch, that power was simply too much to stop.

Our journey through the 2012–2013 Tournament of Champions season continues with the Capitol City Clash, where one of the hobby’s strongest coaches smashed his way to the championship.

JIM “THE HULK” DAVIS!

There’s a reason Jim earned the nickname “The Hulk.” He became known throughout the hobby for building some of the strongest, most physical teams in Electric Football. When you lined up against Jim, you knew you were going to have to deal with POWER.

At the Capitol City Clash, The Hulk did what The Hulk does—SMASH!

Jim powered his way through the competition and captured the 2012–2013 Capitol City Clash Championship, adding his name to the early history of the Tournament of Champions.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS HISTORY — ADRIAN BAXTER… AGAIN!

Remember when we said this wouldn’t be the last time you saw Adrian Baxter?

Well… AB is back.

During the 2012–2013 Tournament of Champions season, a new tournament entered the series: The Warrior Championship. And when it was time to crown its inaugural champion, there was a familiar name standing at the top.

ADRIAN BAXTER

After already capturing the CON 5 Championship, Baxter added another piece of TOC history by becoming the first-ever Warrior Champion.

This is what makes AB’s story so special. It wasn’t just one tournament. It wasn’t just one great run. He kept winning.

Another tournament. Another championship. Another chapter in the legacy of one of the greatest coaches this hobby has ever seen.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS HISTORY — PEP WOODS

After the successful launch of the Tournament of Champions from February through June of 2012, it was time to take the next step.

For the 2012–2013 season, the Tournament of Champions expanded, adding two more tournaments to the series. One of those new events was the Land Rush, and its inaugural champion was Pep Woods!

But Pep's contribution to this hobby goes far beyond championships.

For years, Pep Woods has been a staple of the Electric Football community, bringing his personality, laughter, and love for the game to leagues and tournaments across the country. If Pep is in the building, you know you're going to hear some laughs and have a good time.

More importantly, Pep has always been an ambassador for the hobby. He's been willing to share his knowledge, welcome new coaches, answer questions, and help people find their way into this great community.

That's what makes someone more than just a champion. That's how you help grow a hobby.

As we continue celebrating the history of the Tournament of Champions, we recognize:

A champion on the board. An ambassador off the board. And a personality that has helped make this hobby what it is today.

THE GOAT — ADRIAN “AB” BAXTER

If I had to name the greatest coach of all time, the man in this picture would be my choice.

Adrian Baxter is the GOAT.

Electric Football. Miniature Football. Electronic Football. Whatever name you use for this hobby, AB is one of the greatest to ever touch the board. His ability to compete, strategize, adjust, and WIN has set a standard that generations of coaches have chased.

CON 5 CHAMPION

CON 5 marked the first year the CON became part of the Tournament of Champions, and when it was time to crown a champion, Adrian Baxter stood at the top.

But here’s the thing about AB’s place in this history…

This won’t be the last time you see his name.

20 YEARS OF THE CON — HONORING THE HISTORY

Before we celebrate where the Tournament of Champions is today, we’re going back to where it all began.

The CON — short for the National Convention — dates back to the 2006–2007 season, beginning a National Championship tradition that has become an important part of Electric Football history.

In 2012, the Tournament of Champions (TOC) was born as a spinoff of the MFCA, carrying forward the CON moniker and its tradition of crowning a National Champion each season.

The first-ever Tournament of Champions event was the Capitol City Clash, hosted by Dearell, where Charles Lane made history as the first Tournament of Champions champion.

Now, as we celebrate the 20th year of the CON Championship, we’re opening the history books.

Over the coming posts, we’ll take a trip down memory lane to recognize the coaches who built this legacy — revisiting the tournaments, champions, seasons, rivalries, and unforgettable moments that shaped the CON and the Tournament of Champions.

Some names you’ll remember. Some moments you may have forgotten. And some history deserves to be told again.

Don is a true legend of the Electric Football hobby. His résumé speaks for itself: 8 DFWEFL Super Bowl Championships and a Coaches Challenge Championship, along with years of excellence at the highest level.
