Had the worst bout of allergies in my life last night through this morning. Just…wild. The incessant coughing, lack of sleep, all of it prompted a rest day from the gym.
But hey, down -26lbs since mid-March when I started the mini-cut before anabolics, on track to get to -30lbs *maybe* by next week but definitely in two weeks. So, cheers to that.
I just never want to carry that much weight again. On the scale, lost all my progress for the year. Composition was a different story. I put on a lot of muscle that is showing through now. But the scale is such a damning mental battle. So if this is the beginning of week 3 in the PCT, means I’ve got this week, next week, then 8 weeks off - so ten more weeks. Keeping a 3lb/wk average would put me about 10lbs below where I ended my cut last year. And, that was a year-long cut. I’m basically attempting to do more in 20 weeks than I did in a year, fall 2022 to fall 2023.
You need short term goals in your fitness journey. Think of it like art. When a sculptor needs to add more to an area, more clay gets slapped on and then worked down. It’s the same idea. People who don’t make progress often have the long-term mentality in mind and get burned out thinking what they’re doing is useless anyway. And that might be true. But as soon as the cut if done, I’m switching to strength goals. Then back to bulking. Then cutting. It’s a way to stay motivated long-term by constantly changing the nature of your short term goals.
