Substantial transformations start with small changes- commit to making little changes in several areas of your life, rather than making dramatic changes in one or two areas of your life.
When it comes to getting healthier or even seeing results in a transformation journey, most people think that they need to make huge, dramatic changes overnight. 1200 calorie per day diet, hit the gym six days a week, go keto, etc. But here’s the truth: that all-or-nothing approach rarely sticks and it often leads to burnout. These extreme methods may yield a quick return but the long-term success is far less substantial. Real, lasting results comes from small, sustainable changes made consistently across multiple areas of your life.
When starting with a personal training client, and together evaluating their current lifestyle, I will create a “game-plan for success” that offers suggestions on areas where they can make small improvements. Here are a few small improvements that you can draw on to include in your own routine and suggestions that I might include in a training clients “game-plan for success”…
Drink 2-4 more cups of water per day. Add 2k steps to your daily step goal. Take a food sensitivity test to help you make small shifts in your diet. Add a daily multi-vitamin/probiotic or superfood shot to your morning routine. Stretch/foam roll for 5-10 minutes per day. Or use what I call “The Replacement Approach.” There are many pathways to success, and the Replacement Approach is one of my favorite methods to help in making diet shifts. In fact, I made this video sharing how you can incorporate this method into your own life.
While these may seem like tiny insignificant changes, the small changes compound and lead to dramatic results. Small shifts stick. You’re not burning out—you’re building a lifestyle. And out of the new formed lifestyle comes sustainable change.
