Coach Intro: 👋 Meet Coach Hannah 👋

Hannah will be a junior at Lord Botetourt High School this fall. She currently works as a lifeguard at both AP and the YMCA and has been teaching swim lessons for the past year. Hannah began her own swimming journey with the Stingrays and has now been a competitive swimmer for five years.

As a coach, Hannah is committed to creating a positive, encouraging environment where every swimmer feels supported, valued, and motivated to improve. She loves helping swimmers build skills, celebrate progress, and discover their confidence in the water.

Outside of the pool, Hannah enjoys spending time with
friends and playing pickleball.

I have gotten messages that some of our suit sizes are not available to order. I have a message out to our Swim and Tri rep to see if/when she anticipates a restock.

All sizes (20 and larger) were available for all suits on the date of the open house, unfortunately, it seems this suit/pattern must be a popular design for the season. I am hoping for a quick response back; I will post an update once available.

The only other possible solution I have, if you do not want to wait: search Speedo - Linear Lava (turnback, leaderback, jammer) in the color “royal blue/bright green”. You may be able to purchase the same suit from a different vendor. However, it would not have our logo on it and the pricing may be different.

We had a successful first day of practice and it was so great to see all the swimmers in the pool again. If you missed today check out practice tomorrow morning or evening and Friday morning.
A big thanks to all those that struggled through and worked together to get the lane line reel taken apart and put back together. It was a beast of a job but one that was well overdue. Happy Swimming!

The Ashley Plantation Stingrays are looking for volunteers to help make this season — and future seasons — a success! 🏊‍♂️💙

We are currently seeking volunteers for the following leadership positions:
• VP
• Sponsorship Coordinator
• Volunteer Coordinator
• Communications Coordinator

We are also in need of meet volunteer positions which take a little extra training, including:
• Judges
• Starter
• Referee
• Someone willing to train on the computer systems used during swim meets

No experience? No problem! We are happy to help train volunteers who are willing to learn and support our team.

Our swim team runs because of our amazing community, and we would love to have more parents and supporters get involved. If you are interested or would like more information, please send us a message!

Happy Memorial Day and thank you to all who have served! 🇺🇸

Quick update regarding practices this week:

🚫 Tuesday practices are canceled due to cold temps and rain.

✅ Wednesday practices are still planned at normal times, but adjustments may be made depending on temperatures.

👟Swimmers should bring tennis shoes to practice this week in case coaches incorporate dryland warm-ups before getting in the pool.

Whether your swimmer is just getting started or ready to build on their skills, summer swim is a fun and rewarding experience for the whole family. We welcome swimmers ages 4 and up as long as they can swim the length of the pool without assistance.

We’re gearing up for the summer swim season and are excited to announce our new head coach, Keeley McNamara!

Keeley currently works full‑time as a Medical Education Programs Coordinator at UVA while pursuing her master’s degree in healthcare administration. Her swimming journey began with the Stingrays at age 11, where she later returned as both a junior and assistant coach. She also swam for Lord Botetourt High School and spent several years teaching swim lessons to children and adults of all ages.

She is incredibly excited to return to the team where it all began and to see so many familiar faces—along with welcoming new swimmers to the Stingrays family. Keeley looks forward to watching each swimmer grow, gain confidence, and improve throughout the season.

Outside of the pool, you can usually find Keeley at a country concert or spending time with her dog, Miller. Keeley McNamara
