This was a fun build. For some reason, my other post went against "regulations". Not sure why. But, Toby Davis was a VERY patient fella waiting for it. Thanks for the confidence in me to make the knife build possible. Hope it was worth the wait, buddy.

Blade is D2 tool steel
Guard is aluminum that I melted and hand shaped.
Guard pins are brass tubing with copper insert.
Spacer is orange G10. This was my little added touch in memory of "The Orange Blossom Special" (IYKYK).
Handle material is Rams horn, with Brass, leather, and copper inserts.
Custom mosaic pin
And, I'm still learning the art of leather working, but I thought it came out pretty good.

Back in January, my Father-in-law gave me a magazine. In the magazine was a cane sword. He mentioned REALLY liking this cane sword on more than one occasion. Knowing him like I do, I took it as a challenge.......and a challenge it was! Literal blood, sweat, and probably a couple tears, (due to saw dust in my eyes, of course). I can't tell you how many times I started over.
Anyway, the handle is pecan, the cane itself is hickory. The blade is forged from an old chisel from an air hammer. The mosaic pin has 15 different little pieces of aluminum, copper, and brass stock. It is affixed with epoxy resin, with green, blue, and black coloring. The red wood on the handle came off of a wood lathe from a guitar maker from Bossier City. The shiny spacer is stainless. And there is also a leather spacer as well. I added a ball bearing in the handle. It can be used as a "window breaker". Wink 😉. This build was the most challenging, so far!! And painful! I broke my rule of "Sharpening is the very last thing you do!". EDIT* I almost forgot! He loves to bird hunt, so I wood burned a dove to personalize it.

Sent this one home yesterday. I'm proud of this one! Stabilized Cedar and epoxy handle. Also incorporated a snake skin into the handle. Blade was made by stock removal on an old file. I like the texture, so I left it. The sheath is a scout style, right or left hand, horizontal. It my first attempt at staining, do it kinda looks like a rookie sheath. Still proud. Lol. Another satisfied customer! Y'all be sure to share and invite folks to my page.

Just about finished with this beauty! The blade is an old file, obviously. The handle is made from stabilized cedar, from the customers newly acquired property, with magic blue, light blue, and a little bit of orange epoxy. Set inside the epoxy, if you look closely, you will see a snake skin from his new pet, a baby corn snake. It was the snakes first shed and he asked if I could somehow use it in the handle. It proved to be a challenge, but it's there! Lol. The makers mark is my first attempt with my new stencils. Turned out great! It has a copper bolster and stainless pins. Also, a custom center pin with his last name initial for an extra touch of personalization. I'm not completely finished, but I think it looks great! What do y'all think?

Loving these new stencils I ordered for electroetching my makers mark! Even has my signature in it.

Some other projects I've been working on. The hatchet, all I did was the leather wrap on the handle, and I used the sheath as inspiration for a sheath on another hatchet project. The spring I used for the blade of a cane sword I decided to give a go. The cane is being made from black walnut, and a part of the handle is a piece of Redwood that came off of a wood lathe in the shop of a guitar maker in Bossier. The metal spacer is stainless, and the other spacer is leather. I'm focusing now on how to fix the blade in the cane in such a way that it has an easy release. The metal has been VERY successfully quenched and heat treated. I whacked a wood block several times with no damage to the blade, and severe damage to the wood block. Stay tuned for the finished masterpiece.

Some handle material I've been working on. Still trying to master mixing colors. The Red/White/and Blue blank has some oak Burl in it. I just used some random pieces I had laying around because I'm still tuning in my color mixing abilities. The other, I found some wasps nests and thought, "that would be cool for a knife handle". It turned out alright.
