Mid-January to late-February can be the most difficult period of time mentally for all of us: less daylight, colder temperatures, less time outside, etc.
As students this can be made worse: last term's grades not being what we expected, the beginning of a new term, and more.
What can help?
My first response is this: workout. Even 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week releases endorphins that help to even out those mental wrinkles. This doesn't have to be at the gym: fill your backpack with books and do hammer curls, triceps extensions, and goblet squats...and if pushups are too easy, move up to T-pushups. Without any formal equipment, you can do wonders not only for the body, but for the brain.
Second: use the opportunities that the Club provides to try and get together with your team-mates. Our sessions and Monarch or Montpetit bring human contact beyond the walls of the classroom - and the exercise + working on the sport you love really helps.
If you don't like these suggestions, then here are 7 more from the Canadian Olympic Committee.
