Nicole Blanch - Fitness Trainer

Since her earliest memory as a young girl, how the human body grows and functions has always left Nicole fascinated. Her interest with the human body’s optimal function and vitality led her to pursue a career in the Health and Fitness Industry. She graduated with honours standing in 2003 from The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a Personal Fitness Trai

ner Certificate. She holds a Personal Trainer Specialist certification and a Healthy Eating and Weight loss certification through Can-fit-pro and a 200 hour yoga certification. In her quest to deliver sound health advice to the community, she is an advocate for continuing education and has facilitated weight loss clinics and nutritional workshops. Her background includes designing postural correcting exercise programs, interval and weight training, stretching exercises and sports specific program design for all body types and fitness levels from youth to the older adult. She is a Barre instructor and fell in love with the elements of barre for its low injury risk, joint strength improvement, emphasis on strong core and back musculature leading to improved posture. For leisure time, she enjoys hiking and mountain biking with her husband and three sons. She also has an artistic side and practices singing, painting and exploring new recipes to prepare for her family. Nicole achieves personal fulfillment by meeting new people, empowering them to discover their inner most desires, attain their personal bests and helping them reach their fitness goals! This is a video my yoga guru, Christina Raskin did. I was fortunate enough to meet her through canfitpro a few years ago. Soul Thrive Yoga is where I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training.

I can say so many amazing things about the teacher training through Soul Thrive! She and the other teacher trainers are knowledgeable and keep up to date on all things yoga. She speaks my language when it comes to anatomy as well!

Check out this short video to understand more about why we say "protect the knee" and how you can apply it to your yoga asana's.

I love that she uses props (skeleton) to demonstrate.

This fitness tracker was shared with me by a client and I think it is a quick and fun way to track your activities for the year and keep you motivated!

Display it in a place in your home where you will see it and have your coloring pencils handy. Choose different colours that represent the activities or intensities that you plan to do. Include rest days with a color of its own as well!

Make sure to make time to unplug from your devices and practice doing absolutely nothing at some point during your day.

Watch the wind blow through the trees, wildlife scurrying around, clothes tumbling in the dryer. Acknowledge sights, smells, and sounds around you.
If that is too difficult at first, try a colouring book or sand garden.

This form of meditation activates your parasympathetic nervous system, aiding in relaxation, improving sleep issues, anxiety, patience ... Lending you a sense of peace and calm which is a benefit to your overall health and well being 🤗

Continuing education at Canfitpro's Global Fitness Conference and Trade Show in Toronto was amazing! I tried new things, made some new friends, and would do it all again!
Keynotes speakers Silken Laumann and Dr. Ivan Joseph were inspirational 🤩 and the presenter sessions were spot on!

I will be instructing HIIT Classes at the CAF Uplands Base this summer!

The workout program will be doable for many fitness levels. So don’t shy away, there is something here for you! Bring a friend and have some fun! Weather permitting, some classes may take place outdoors.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts are a popular form of exercise that involve exerting your maximum energy during short periods of time. These bursts of high-intensity strength and cardio exercises are followed by brief periods of recovery, training your body to be more fit.

Each session will be approximately 45 minutes with an additional 15 minutes allocated to stretching and foam rolling techniques.

When: Wednesday’s 4:30-5:30 pm, 15 June - 3 August. (8 sessions)
Where: Main Hall at Uplands Military Community Center - 330 Croil pvt. Ottawa

Regular CAF member - $80
Civilians - $100
Bring your own water bottle, workout shoes, and weights and/or bands if you like.
